getting into really weird shit lately
barely even music. just like 10 minute long pieces or entire albums of droning, ambient soundscapes. this sounds like what i feel these days.

i listened to a bunch of portions from this and it sounds pretty different to what i was talking about. funnily enough, what i like about what i posted is the extreme minimalism, the way the guy is comfortable having a phrase repeat for 8 minutes and built mountains of sounds and pictures around it.

what you posted is much more 'instrument-y', more musical, more obvious in crafting a clear image for the listener, rather than being amorphical. not saying it wouldn't be cool for a different mood, but it's appels+oranjes

Experimental and Ambient musics tend to get lumped together (even I do it) but I would venture that Plotkin lends toward the experimental side of things, if you really want to parse genres.

There's certainly a defined structure and linear approach to that song posted above. Nitpicky I realize, but Zeit is the truer, more ambient album.

I think you're just talking about minimalism, which is what I really enjoy about experiemental music. Like it's obviously one guy with one instrument making all the sounds. Whereas Tangerine Dream was 3 dudes.

except for stuff like "ambient folk" or "ambient sound art"
