I feel like Björk has become an AI generated parody of herself from 15 years ago
The outrageous costumes and singing about cells and organs was clever at the time, but she just keeps doing the same thing over and over now. It feels like she's a lion chasing a butterfly, and it makes me sad. These new songs sound like outtakes from Volta, in my humble and angry opinion.

so you're saying that pop stars often become bloated self-eating parodies of themselves over time?

I think this is a killer track and exactly the kind of stull I enjoy from her.

I loved her so fucking much, and the shows I saw on her Homogenic and Vespertine tours are like top two and ten concert experiences, respectively
It makes me really, really sad that I can't listen to anything past Medúlla, which came out in fuckin' 2004; it's all just tuneless wandering shit that I can't connect with at all (I don't think the entirety of Volta is like this? I remember "Earth Intruders" having an actual beat and melody, but I hated the album anyway) |

I listened to the entire album in one siting. If you go into it expecting a work of art with the focus on vocal performance, then it's actually amazing. If you are expecting Homogenic or Vespertine, you will be disappointed.

I'm the same, loved everything up to Verspertine, took me a while to get into that one though (and I love it now).
The last three albums have been impressive production and vocal wise, but there's no tunes, no beats, nothing to get on board with. I liked the first track from the new album, it was the right kind of insane, but everything else has been tuneless meandering as said above. |
