well the premise of trl, despite what a charade it is, is music programming.

This will probably come around full circle, they will start gradually playing more and more music, and it will start pissing viewers off. People will start saying stuff like "MTV used to show quality programs, now all they show are crappy music videos"

I doubt it, even Mtv2 is showing less and less music now. TRL didn't even really play videos anymore they would only play like a minute of each video. There just in no market for music videos anymore, not that there ever really was one.

they use to have just 10 second clips of videos and have the host talk over it.

and that was like 7 years ago so i dont even know how little they played now

is fuse still around? they'd play a bunch of music videos. if there was a channel that played nothing but music videos id give it a whirl while i was bored.

Fuse is still oaround but I never find anything they play that interesting.

This is making me feel pretty sweet about the music video show Rage in Australia. They literally have not change their format at all in over 20 years. It's all totally 80s.

music videos can still be cool and im sure they'd have an audience. remember when ok go had that treadmill video? it spread like wildfire on youtube because it doesnt even have proper outlets on television. i still think people can make cool videos if there were popular channels dedicated to getting them on the air. mtv use to have a bunch of countdown shows that served just fine in the 90s, they've just been replaced with awful reality tv.
