I could just say that I believe its fake, but that's just based on my own ear. I ripped the audio and analyzed it the best I could. I'm not too knowledgeable on spectrum analysis but the report is vastly different than any of the 95 demos we have. Listening on a really nice set of headphones makes me think this is two different recordings layered on top of each other.

It sounds like a great piece of music, but there are some things that I think definitely make it distinct from the MCIS demos - mostly production-side stuff.

The sound of the recording doesn't have the Neve preamp colouring or the darkness that comes from the tape machines used for MCIS, the Otari MTR-90 MKII and Studer A820. The recording is clearer and brighter than MCIS-era recordings and studios demos, and especially the Billy home demos.

The guitars are mixed with a bit more separation to them than in MCIS-era tracks, and there might be a slight bit more upper-mid frequencies in the guitar tone.

In the solo, which sounds great and very Billy-like, the playing style sometimes continues the runs a bit longer than Billy does before accenting them with something contrasting.

People have commented on the drums, which I think sound great creative-wise, but which might have some moments of sloppiness in them.

So, I think it's an imitation, but a very skilled and good-sounding one.

I'd love to know what the signal chain used was, how it was mixed, and all other technical aspects of it.

I mentioned his home demos in the comment you quoted, pointing out that this clip's recording doesn't sound like them, either.

Though, Billy's home demos don't have Jimmy drumming on them, and they are mostly acoustic.

You don't need to put it in a spectrum analyser to know it's fake. The leaks that we got a couple of years ago from Arms of Sheep were all low quality mp3, but the recordings were definitely real.
