I transcribed the 9th track of the interview, starting at the minute 2:11 until 3:26. I want to translate that to portuguese so I can use the quote as exemple of what's art and what's entertainement, in other words, what is the sthetical pleasure (I don't know if it's the words in for nglish) and what is not. So what I want to ask is if someone can add the missing word and correct what's not right. I know the last word isn't what Billy said, but since he hadn't finnished is thought because of the interruption of the interviewer... So here it is:
What kind of bothers me personally is people questioning the … of my feelings, and that I can never understand. I mean, Ok, here we are, we’re in Chicago, right?, I grew up in Elk Grove, Illinois, which is nice and flat and there is not much going on, and I’m sure that plenty people that are listening right now totally know what I’m talking about. Friday night rules around, we have nothing to do, except go behind the school and smoke pot. There is not a future, that is not a life. And there certainly aren’t a lot of people that you can turn and love to, to find inspiration … pursue what you want to do in life. And what pursue what you want to do in life is not necessarily going to college and getting ... degree so you can go into … factory. So, I think that I personally and we collectively are expressing some kind of a combination of those years and those kinds of feelings. They’re valid, they’re real. And I think people who really listen to what we are talking about understand that. If you want people to sing about a world who doesn’t exist, that’s fine, there’s always going to be that, there’s always going to be madonnas and escape artist to represent some aspect of life that is not real. We are the other way, we want to represent what’s real and point out the sickness and the beauty in life.

Wow, what an amazing find. Admittedly, this is before my time, but it takes me back to a time when the band was huge. Awesome.

I do wonder what happened to him sometimes. He had a really good sense of humor at one point. |

And it also appears that the pumpkins used to be the band of choice for 16 year old girls in 1995, which is a bit unsettling. Then again I wasn't in high school in 1995, so my persective is a bit skewed.
