Well I suppose the illness was why he sounded so rough in Birmingham. When they played those two festival shows a few months back, I could tell his voice had lost a little power, but he still seemed to be able to sing with ease, so I was surprised at how much he seemed to be suffering in Birmingham. On the 20th Anniversary tour, they had to cancel one of the Chicago shows for the same reason. At the show before, Billy was talking about how hard it was to sing, but still turned in a really great performance.

yeah i think so, too.

I was in front of james for that show and he was coughing most of the night between songs.

Maybe they'd been sick for a little while at that point.

Don't know what you mean by "completely full", looks like there aren't many sold out shows.

Going to the show tonight. Just hanging out until stage time. Not especially looking forward to it but got a free ticket via reddit. Got about an hour to go.

What cracked me up was the giant video monitor to the left of the stage I guess for the people in the back. It was nothing more than a static shot of the stage. I’ve seen better aud bootleg footage.

There was some guys head blocking the entire 2/3 middle of the screen. Very funny.

I got there about ten minutes before SP started. No problem finding a good spot the equivalent of 5-6 people back of center

We need to talk about how Jeff is dressing like Adrian Belew in baggy sweatpants and a plain cotton long sleeve. Really leaning into that Jeff “the shredder” nickname.

lol also noticed the very lame video board. it was so zoomed out it didn't seem any more useful than your real eyes

waited in line at 5:30 [got in at 6, waited T W O hours for the opening band to start]. barricade James' side.

i HATE all the insecurity surrounding getting spots at gigs. i'd SO much rather everything just be seated like at sports games. if i want to be front row i'd rather pay than have to dick around waiting around for ages

notes from my phone:

- guy next to me got interviewed for SP Instagram [or something like that]. she asked when he became a fan, why he likes the band. bitches don't know I have 8k Netphoria posts

- spotted Doug and Augustus at the side of the stage

- Corgan and ihas guitar techs look vaguely like them. like body doubles for a film

- loud annoying drunk next to me

- JC is effortless. if you think he's lost a step, that's just him being even more effortless. it is godly.

- James is the coolest man in the world. he came out wearing that suit and looked...so fucking cool.

- Corgan was complaining off mic about stuff between songs for the first half or so.

- Saw on the side of the stage the guitar techs wiping off every guitar with a cloth. germ thing? corgan standard thing? just for the rain?

The best show I've seen them play irl, easy. [first SP gig was 2018 arena tour]. Little jams between songs, classic Corgan/Iha banter ['happy to be playing in the Marriott inn parking lot'], good vibes all around

we didn't get any cool deep cuts. no Ugly, HKK, XYU, Hummer... Starla was pretty fuckin lit

the silverfuck jam genuinely has MCIS tour level parts - both in terms of how similar they sound, and how high quality they are

It’s about reintroducing people to the Smashing Pumpkins brand to build some hype for the announcement of the announcement of the album.

this is the most painfully obvious and transparent attempt by the band yet to play directly into what they think the public's expectations of them are, and milking the CASH TITTY as fully and as thoroughly as possible

what are we talking about here

"Rock invasion" must have sounded so cool and relevant in 1993 but now it feels more like a SNL parody.

he's playing the heeeeeeeeel!

why must great aaurtists always be misunderstood?
he even says it and explains it in interviews, like a heeeeel should.
Being a heel is the original of "it's just prank bro" that everyone loves.

It’s like he doesn’t understand there’s a middle ground from Oceania where his ass was hanging out to this ridiculous costume he’s been on since the first Shiny tour.
