So JC is basically the new Tommy Lee.
I wonder if Iha would be more included if he lived in Chicago. As far as I know he lives in LA, right? SP "neighbor effect" might matter, but I doubt it. I wish we could predict that SP5 would return to playing together in the studio after Covid kept them apart. Then we could imagine that Cyr and ATUM were pandemic albums that were exceptions rather than the new rule. Said sadly, I think we are still in the MTAE era: solo Billy branded SP with minor studio contributions from drummers and guitarists. |

The issue here is that the music fucking sucks.
Doubt that James "off in a corner somewhere not paying any fucking attention" could fix it. |

The drums in the last SP releases have been the worst sounding in the history of the band, and that includes Mike Byrne.
It’s not so much the drum arrangement—it’s that they’re so insanely compressed and processed. Add to that how it’s clearly done to a click track, and it makes for drums that sound totally lifeless—like ProTools made them from some downloadable pack |

records where the drums are tracked "after" make for awful grids.
if they're gonna do shit in the box, on the grid. at least billy should share the stems. let us make our own mixes. |
