Wish they played at least one other new song. Give the people what they want I guess but I’ve heard 1979 live a million times already.

My favourite Howard Stern moment is when Hum came on his show to play Stars and he talked over the song whilst they were playing it. What a class act.

That performance was tight. Much better here than on Atum. I don't always hate Katie's vocals; it makes sense on stuff like Stairway to the Stars and a couple others. But man she takes the punch out of this particular song.

Empahs is watered down garbage but the performance here sounded good.. especially the absence of backing vocals

Red face

Absolutely flabbergastted that "Matt McJunkins" is not some weird nickname or a derogatory version of his actual surname; I really thought y'all were having a bit of a laugh there

Oh, meet our new bassist, Doc McStuffins

It’s always interesting how new SP songs sound like old ones when he does them live.

Can I just say something. I'm not a huge Metallica fan. Obviously, I'm aware of them, their career, and can respect what they've contributed to rock and metal music. I like a track of theirs here and there. But watching them play their new single Lux Æterna on Howard Stern... holy shit! They sure put Smashing Pumpkins' Howard Stern appearance to shame. At least Metallica are still pushing themselves performance-wise. Just watch them perform Lux Æterna live. Sure, it sounds like a Metallica track, but watch the band performing it. You can feel them riding that edge where if one of them loses it or makes a mistake, it will all turn into a mess. Somehow Lars didn't die before the song was over. Also, look at the elation on their faces when they finish the song, like "yeah, we fucking nailed it!" Then you watch the Pumpkins live now and the new music is just so bland and lifeless. I can't say any of the Pumpkins are actually pushing themselves musically. It all feels rather by the numbers. You watch Metallica and it's like a workout. They're not slowing down.

Even Atum's hardest track Slap Your Hamageddon sounds like child's play.

You can seriously say the new Smashing Pumpkins album is better than the new Metallica album with a straight face?

And I'm not even a hardcore fan of Metallica, but come on, new Smashing Pumpkins music is baby music.

Both are abhorrently and unacceptably terrible….

And yes, LIMP BIZKIT MODERN ERA is better than both acts right now by a cosmic magnitude

We're still in the Atum honeymoon phase, where we're like, "Hmm, I wonder which Atum song Billy will play? I wonder if it'll be better live than on the album?"

Then they'll play one of the newer tracks, and we'll be like, "Yea, it did sound better with the band."

Then all of the Atum touring will come to an end, and that's when that horrifying realization will start to seep in, "Wait, Billy is gonna do his usual choose 1 or maybe 2 songs from the previous album and keep them in the set."

That's when your true feelings for these songs reveal themselves. When you know this crap is gonna take up valuable setlist real estate. We'll get the same malaise seen when they run through tracks like Cyr and The Colour Of Your Love live, with Solara hanging on. Does anyone really want Beguiled and Empires in the setlist from now on?
