NIN Break Up
Okay so the wording of this statement has lead to a lot of confusion as to whether this is a definite NIN-is-over thing or not, but nonetheless:

i see what you're saying about how this could seem like NIN is done, but honestly, given how Trent has been handling him self this last year or two i can't see that being the case. bad choice of words, maybe?

I read it as he's taking some time off and will be out of the spotlight for awhile, and the "last run of shows" just relates to the latest tour. I can see how one would read it differently, and maybe that's right... but that's not how I interpreted it at all.

isn't it like pumpkins breaking up, one wonders. The man who by himself is the band calls its quits, and will continue making watered down crap that sounds quite a lot like his previous band?

no, it's not anything like that because NIN has always been acknowledged as essentially a solo project. but whatever, guy.

I'm glad I caught them at the last Voodoo Fest. Most fun I've ever had at a show. But I really hope they come around again this year. And I hope this is merely a hiatus for Trent. |

for a guy that used to put out albums only every 5 years, i'm really not that worried.

Reznor has taken long sabbaticals before... and he's been working pretty much non-stop for the last few years. My guess is this is just a break.

I think it's really, really great. And for me, it has seemed to have slightly more staying power than Year Zero. It's so tight and awesome. No wasted time anywhere. . |

i'd agree that The Slip was the weakest of the past three albums, but it did have some good tracks on it. it just doesn't seem to have the same replay value.
