Default The Cure: Songs Of A Lost World

Seems like the last dedicated thread was ten years ago, and it looks like there's about to be a bit to discuss

They just updated their website with a signup prompt, and band associates are posting lyrics from "Alone" on social media.

Song Of A Lost World seems like it's about to become a real thing, finally.

Someone on stevehoffman forums just got a black envelope embossed with the album title and roman numerals indicating release date:

1-11-2024

dang

incidentally, I always associated Cure's long album roll-out/"tease" process of the past decade + w/ Tears for Fears' own situation - and even though they finally put something out in 2022, they are also doing a new thing I think literally a week before this alleged Cure release

call me Molly Ringwald baby

'cause i'm feelin' PRETTY in pink...

This is exciting news. Still a great live act. Hopefully this signals the third coming of goth.

Go here, enter I-IX-MMXXIV and you can hear a brief snippet of "Alone".

Fuck me, sounds amazing. There's a lot going on in there, and his vocals aren't overly harsh.

I think they're really going out with a bang.

fook yeah m8

wonder how it'll fare against Depeche Mode's song of the same name - one of the best from their Delta Machine album by a mile, imo

(& I like that album)

that was genuinely really good, damn

haven't seen a tracklist yet but i imagine this would either open or close it

4.13 had "Underneath the Stars" then ended up being a bit like a shorter version of Wild Mood Swings, but w/ the album art on this one i'm also guessing it's gonna be more on the "cohesive cure" side of things

4:13 was such a disappointment, so was ST. I don't really like the poppy Cure, so this one gives me so much hope.

st is awesome, end of the world video was maybe the first thing I ever saw and/or heard from them, fresh off MTVU (lol)

i thought i didn't like 413 at first because of how bad freakshow was, for a while I just refused to accept that an album with that song on it could possibly be good, but honestly that one ended up just being far & away the worst on it

Yeah this was my thought on listening. Puts the Aghori into perspective. Bill is his own worst enemy.

Genuine thoughts were this sounds like something Bill wouldve done Machina era.

Mr Smith must be embarrassed at how un-contemporary this sounds - he needs to get Mr Willing in the studio!

And now it's "A Fragile Thing" instead, for which artwork has surfaced. Rumors of a single via a presave link that got taken down:

Another elderly band that has shit all over anything Billy is even capable of writing anymore. New album is potentially only second to Disintegration.

it's good

sounds & feels like a mix of Faith + Bloodflowers, though the subject matter throughout is so god damn heavy it's hardly as accessible as the former or even Pornography

suppose it doesn't help I've also been in a bit of a "morbid" headspace as of late, but that does certainly make it hit when it wants to hit - just gotta go out for a minute of fresh air or two after a while so I don't swallow a god damn bottle of pain meds in the process
