I've recently been really into Snakes and Arrows, which came out in the mid 2000s. Rush were at approximately the same point in their career the Pumpkins are at now, and this album is actually very Pumpkinesque, more so than anything else I've heard by them. It's super interesting to see how another "prog" rock band dealt with 35 years in the business and still came up with something that is a wicked listen. Compare this shit to Atum.


This is just a great song despite its nerdiness and cheesiness



The woah woah woahs at the beginning of this track remind me a lot of Knights of Malta, but it doesn't sound so fucking stupid



This is another track that reminds me a lot of the Pumpkins. listen to the guitar riff. Billy aspires to this level of aging gracefully but he's so far away

I'm so glad I got to see them back in the 2000s with my dad, at least I can say I saw Peart play live

I absolutely love Clockwork Angels as well, but his vocals are really off-putting, so I don't listen to it too much. Vapor Trails is another one of my favorites after I heard the remixed version.

Clockwork Angels is spectacular, but Geddy sings in an extremely bizarre low register and it just sounds a bit off. Vapor Trails slaps, make sure you listen to the remix from a couple years ago, the original one has the worst mastering and brickwalling of all time--Death Magnetic doesn't hold a candle.

Rush should poach Jimmy Chamberlin from SP and do a tour with him. Bonus would be that BC would have to retire.

There's a cover of Anthem on YouTube that was performed by members of Primus, Tool, Mastodon, Coheed & Cambria, etc. that is really cool and worth checking out. I can't access the link right now but it's really sweet. Of course, the original is great too.
