Got my shipping (label created) notification today too.
Hoping this is much better quality than the Live in Japan debacle. Also hoping some kind soul rips this faster than it took for the others. |

why do these "cabaret metro 93" and "riviera 95" fm rips on bootleg vinyl sound so much better than the "tokyo" archive release?
crowd/ambient/venue noise not completely removed? i think that's part of it, but i also suspect "headphone mastering" and, to a lesser extent, overall bad decision making using calculators and not your ears. |

we're never going to get any late or even mid period full shows because it would take 3 or 4 records. we're probably never going to get any demos because the record company now owns them because of the reissues. radio shows are off limits i would guess because why record a professionally recorded show/session?
ugh this is grim |

i don't even care anymore. i'm fine with everything on archive.org; i've learned to enjoy the quality of even shitty AUDs

i don't have good speakers hooked up to my laptop (computer) so all digital content has to be downloaded and then moved to a hard drive and then moved to an Ipod with a DAC it's so tiring

THE RUBANO TAPES have arrived at my home as of today. The wife and children rejoice. Complex emotions abound in our home to know that we are one of the chosen few to own such a priceless piece of historical value, an antiquity for this modern age.

I'm still waiting on 3 more UNOFFICIAL BOOTLEG ALBUMS including the fabled MACHINA 2 BOOTLEG UNOFFICIAL ALBUM UNOFFICIAL PRESS
i figure hey if Billy refused to give us the goods, I guess I have to choose other avenues. It's only money out of my pocket. If he cares or not doesn't give a fuck to me. |

Am I the only one who doesn't really like earlier/80s Smashing Pumpkins? I'm more interested in stuff from Gish and onwards. Pre-Gish, their sound was all over the place.
I think I would actually be more excited by a remixed Zeitgeist reissue with bonus material than 80s Smashing Pumpkins demos/live show. I know, blasphemy. |

Some of it is ok, but there's a big gap between something like My Dahlia and Sun.
There again, there's a gap between something like Obscured and Hello Kitty Kat. |

you can hear them figuring out what sound to emulate and that bothers me probably because i love their later work so much i don't want the mystique/calculations to be so obvious |

at least with the newer stuff we could shit on it and have a good time. 80s is just... i do not care, it's totally raw comparatively, just not interesting |

Agreed on the second paragraph, but there’s some some real cool 80s stuff that’s worth at least sampling. Obviously There it Goes, think that’s the song Corgan’s still most proud of from that era. I really like the song My Dahlia, think that’s great. Also a song that’s a bit more elusive called She, which I think is awesome. That one slips through the cracks, definitely check that song out. East and Psychodelic are cool too, definite, definite precursors to their later sound, especially the former which just sounds like a Siamese Dream demo. Might be nice to have a wee lil 80s Pumpkins comp album like Pisces someday. Just because I know very little about it beyond the few tracks I’ve listed. But yes agreed I need me my Asheville/Fillmore acoustic residency songs! |

Stuff I particularly like that's pre-Gish: Jennifer Ever, There It Goes, Under Your Spell, always kinda dug Razor, and of course, their greatest achievement: S P I T E F A C E |
