No. I don't see it happening for at least 5 years, if ever.

Pajo and Sweeney recently guested with other artists on a cover of Silver Jews. As far as I know nobody spat their dummy out and accused anyone of being immoral or the worst kind of people. Weird.

I personally hated most of Zwan. It seemed insincere and contrived, and a mess of other stuff.

However, that being said,

The Mary Star of the Sea album is probably the one album of Billy’s that needs a complete remixing and remastering overhaul the most.

I don't think any of the Pumpkins, or any major commercial band's stuff is sincere, it's just a degree of competency in selling artificial emotion, that's the business... like Taylor Swift's last two collaboration. Some of it may come from a real place, but lack of sincerity isn't a deal breaker. I'd rather Bill just admit his lyrics are nonsense, like many other popular bands do, than act like he's some genius nobody is smart enough to understand.

Maybe after WPC dies someone will buy the rights cheap and reissue it like Tin Machine II.

I would love him to do a massive rerelease and remix but just can’t see it happening. Its like planning a massive Tin Machine II box set around when Bowie did Hours. Who’s gonna buy it.

WPCs buried the whole thing and doesn’t have anything positive to say about the band or music which makes it a hard sell and prevents any sort of spontaneous indie groundswell or positive reappraisal.

I'd like to believe, but there's the matter of however many songs he wrote with Pajo and Sweeny.

Might still be bad blood there and I'd be very surprised if they could come to agreements.

If this happens I won't be surprised if it's just whatever BC composed himself.

Sweeney pivoted and collaborated with Malkmus - they had a tour lined up and everything before covid hit. He also got together with Pajo and others to cover Silver Jews. I've listened to a few recent interviews with Sweeney and Pajo on podcasts, and they both seem like a fun down to earth people.

Billy wears flat brims and blocks people all day on instagram live. Looks ridiculous, and mad!
