What's after the arena tour? I'll probably only make to scotland, shit gets expensive after that. I think it's like $700 for a round trip flight. I might actually be able to fly free through the military, but we'll see. In any case, it's the beginning of the end, if not the end. I really learned what type of person I can be, where I'm at in my life, and tons of other senseless shit from this last leg of the fall tour. Wish I could have made it to dallas, and I really wanted to see gossamer live before it was all over, but if it wasn't for people posting on here I probably wouldn't have even known about most of these shows. So thanks for that. I also noticed that my means to make it to sp concerts aren't necessarily the craziest, I still have my job, my house, my pets are still alive...
I met a guy in baltimore who flew from germany just to see the pumpkins, I think he didn't even have a flight back. Driving to georgia twice was pretty inconvenient, but in the end worth it. I'll never forget ava adore, starla, and when I look back on the greensboro show and how intense the for god and country acoustic was, and how beserk the crowd was in columbia, it just makes me wish i could do it again. |

i'll agree that in 15 years of going to shows, the columbia crowd was the wildest crowd i've ever seen at any concert.

how is thsi possible? i find this so crazy and amazing i bet; i saw the show on the S+P tour at township and it was only OK, though they did close with "I Am One" and billy asked my g/f to get on stage b/c she was rocking damn, the band really feeds off crowd energy (ie, friday night in atlanta...my friends who came w/ me couldn't believe how good SP was) |

My favorite memory was EITS receiving a louder ovation after their set than SP2.

driving a car full of netphorians to their hotel and almost hitting a pedestrian while nearly running a redlight, that's a great memory. "holy crap skipgo can't drive!! we'll just walk the rest of the way, thanks skip"

I'll certainly remember the two Asheville shows (Jun. 26th & 27th) as the two greatest shows I've ever seen, or could've seen, in my time as an SP fan (started in '96 at 13). On second thought, the two farewell shows in Chicago probably would've been a bit better than those two, but I feel that the two AVL shows I saw would've been better than any show from the MACHINA, Adore, or MCIS tours. Besides the shows themselves in Asheville, I don't really have any other memories of that time in Asheville. I only met one Netphorian (ratking17) who provided me with the ticket for the 26th, he was cool, especially since he was from PA, and on the second night I met a dude who was living in Asheville but grew up in my neighborhood in Philly and did time in the Navy like me. It was cool to run into him that second night, I actually had someone to hang out with and yell to when TAFH was played. I regret not stickin' around longer in Asheville to check out more of the city, my time there was confined to that main street, Biltmore Ave. I think it was, since I arrived there on the afternoon of the 26th and left on the morning of the 28th.
As for the four Philly shows, the first three shows were good, nothin' mind-blowin', though finally hearing STRTJ live was special, but the thing I'll remember most about those shows, sadly, will be how dissappointing that fourth show was. I would've been fine with that show if it wasn't for the fact the two prior nights Billy was hyping it up to be somethin' really special; I'm sorry, but I was just expecting somethin' more than Rotten Apples, BSBT, and With Every Light along with acoustic/electric songs that had already been played the previous nights. Talking to several fans after that show, the only one that wasn't a sellout (nowhere near it, actually), I wasn't the only one who was feeling jipped afterwards. Despite that, I'm still lookin' forward to the day I see 'em live again, regardless of what the lineup is; I'm guessing it'll be '09. Last edited by Chuck=Zero : 11-28-2007 at 02:22 AM. |
