It's funny how all of the dinosaur bands are fawning over these guys. Greta Van Vleet sucks ass

I broke this and everyone jumped on it.

I've started covering Greta Van Fleet more recently, they get very good numbers. Especially the shit about them and Zeppelin.

The album worth checking out at all man? I've heard the singles and I think they kinda blow.

They're a good live band, much better than their recorded stuff.

Kerry Brown is associated with them somehow apparently, and loves them too.

I can't stand them. I didn't realize it was artistically acceptable to be a carbon copy of a legendary band. I mean, the lead singer of Greta even copies Robert Plant's hand gestures. It's fucking ridiculous.

Then you have the imbeciles in YouTube comments going "YEAH BRINGING ROCK'N'ROLL BACK BABY!!!" as if rock is a costume. It makes my head hurt.

I hear ya man. Couldn't interest me any less. It sorta reminds me of when The Darkness, Jet and the Strokes came out.

I feel like old Billy would have eviscerated this band. But to current Billy, artistic success = making tons of money, so this makes sense.

it reminds of 3 unrelated bands (one of them being great) from the early 2000s? that's pretty bizarre, but whatever "gets you off," my main man

Don't you remember when all those "retro" bands were big at the same time? No dig on em, but it was a definite trend.

btw, fuck this band & fuck Bald Cougar & SLASH for "cosigning" them. imma go out on a limb here & guess these two, plus whatever other "rock vets" out there saying good things about GVF are simply clueless about anything new & exciting outside of the rock circle (or hell, even in it) & just gravitated toward the first thing that reminded them of their YOOT

Yeah. I don't get the band. It seems like they're supposed to be ironic, but it doesn't really come out in the music.

The lead singer's responses to ROBERT PLANT HIMSELF accusing him of ripping him off is the most entertaining thing about this all

They were tangentially related to a retro "aesthetic" but not just glorified tribute bands. I don't even care about Darkness or Jet but The Strokes made at least 2 or 3 legitimately good albums

They're not being ironic. They're shamelessly copying a classic band and don't think it's a problem.

It's like the world has gone topsy turvy!

Holy shit, this is awful. Dead wringer of Plants vocals but the songwriting's absolute garbage

Hard to believe Corgan digs this.

To their credit though, at least it's trying to rock. the previously hyped bands like Father John Misty were getting blander and blander

First I heard GVF, can't believe how much of a Robert Plant rip off that is. I mean, at least try to sound a little original!

They look like a bunch of 12 year old boys who are dressing up to do a party piece.

They are not bad or "garbage." They just sound deeply unoriginal. I am not surprised that people of a certain age (50s,60s) like this because they are a throwback retro act. They get to see a Led Zeppelin cover band that is young and they get to experience their youth vicariously (young sweaty men) rather than watch their 70+ heroes lumber around the stage and remind them of how dated their musical interests are.

I sort of get this now as I have aged. I was really into 90s electronica and I have recently gotten into chill wave and chill house because it activates my pleasure centers. Though to be fair I have no idea the ages of the people who make it.

It's like that Irish band the Strypes (who have now split up). They did that whole mid-60s R&B thing down to a T, and aging music fans lapped it up. It didn't last long though.
