Functionally, yes. Of course no one agrees with everything Obama has done, but FPP makes you spend all your money in one place. It's not my "mindset" - it's a fact of the voting system. This video, which features jungle animals, might be helpful:

I guess if you understand the problems and yet still want to encourage them that is your choice. Bizarre. But your choice.

Oh no, the only way to change it would be electing officials through a voting process. Nnnnooooooooooooooo!

vote for obama because he'll appoint a judge to overturn rulings you don't like

but the president has no control over the supreme court rulings

we all know you're fond of radical agitation - and that's alright - but can't you try for one second to understand your less radical opponents? it's really not that hard

I understand the argument. I just think it's intellectually shallow and pragmatically futile.

You clearly do not understand how any of this works. He will appoint liberal justices. He will not write their opinions. I'm done trying to fucking explain this to you.

How is it even remotely pragmatic to trade one baby step forward on one issue (which may or may not matter) for huge leaps backwards on about 45 other, often much more serious, issues?

nah i'm sure everything would've went down exactly the same if bush wasn't president. hell it would've even been worse, but marginally

the supreme court deals with a lot of serious issues. not just abortion. a more liberal court would smack down a lot of what bush and obama have done on foreign policy and national security.

and your avoiding taking the leaps backward in exchange for nothing.

yeah i don't understand how people can think "it doesn't matter" when we had the most catastrophic administration in modern history a few years ago. that's the most mind boggling for me

its like the bush years were some distant historical curiosity

that's because you're not getting it, if they can deliberately appoint judges that are either pro life or pro choice then it's pretty simple find a judge that won't overturn citizens united

DUH ^2

you mean bush who was appointed by the supreme court because of electoral fraud in a single state even though his opponent won the popular vote pretty convincingly

yeah i wonder why i would suddenly start to think voting doesn't matter

It is discouraging but i dont think it was ever proven fraud? It is legally possible to win the pop vote and lose the EV.. even though it only happened in only one other election in history

But beside that my point is the trajection of history would probably be wildly fucking different if that election went differently. I'm old enough to remember the consensus in 2000 was 'well they're both tools. Imma sit out and vote for nader coz its the same either way'

no, it's not nearly as simple. and the fact that you think that is why i'm done talking to you about this. your vote doesn't matter because you live in texas. if you lived in ohio, florida, pennsylvania, colorado, virginia, or north carolina, i'd keep going down this road.

and yes it sucks that neither of our votes matter. and i'm in favor of abolishing the electoral college. but we got what we got.

you still seem unable or unwilling to answer why this logic is any less simplified than yours about roe vs. wade.

there are already 4 justices ready to overturn roe v. wade. the liberals (one of whom was an obama appointee) all voted in dissent of citizens united. i'm pretty sure i pointed that out already.
