Tyger, Tyger is the kind of track David Byrne would throw down with St Vincent and everyone would be like “Yes, this is naff but we’re ok with it”.

I still listen to Cyr. By choice. It’s a good album. I will die on this hill.

I will agree the Shiny album has a better track list. It has two songs that I would consider great by latter day Pumpkins standards ("Marchin' On" and "With Sympathy") and two that I would say are "really good" ("Silvery Sometimes" and "Seek and you Shall Destroy"). Having said that, I would say the production on it is remarkably bad: sucks the life out of all the songs.

Monuments did not have as great song selection. I do love "Tiberius" (was stoked to see them play it with Jimmy and James in 2019), but also two of the worst songs in the band's histroy ("Run2Me" and "Mounuments"). I do agree with Joey, however, that to my ears, it's probably the best sounding SP record since the old days (not exactly a high bar to cross). It actually made me somewhat optimistic Howard Willing would be able to bring that sound to ATUM, but he didn't. I'd say ATUM is the worst sounding Pumpkins album by a wide margin.

Smh. Monuments was not one of the worst SP songs. That song is a certified banger.

Cyr reminds me of Covid lockdowns.

It may have got listeners at the time, but it will always remind me of that insane time in modern history.

if i remember it correctly, this is the show he did after recording with an audience (at a church?) for a couple of days.

Agree on Cyr... Don't listen often but when I do it's good. Nighttime drive last time worked very well.

Nobody's mentioned Drum n Fife yet? A standout of SP2 for me.

i'd rather Shiny with Monu production than Monu with JC & JI shoehorned into it - Tommy served those songs about as well as they needed to be, at best James could have maybe "spiced up" a couple of sections

Rubin & his merry reuben crew just suffocated practically everything on Shiny and it's essentially the polar opposite of something like Mellon Collie

or hell, even Zeitgeist

Yeah, it's a bit cheese, but definitely one of the closer songs to SP1 for me.

I'd rather be stuck listening to Run2Me than Drum N Fife if I'm being completely honest. I find Drum N Fife so dull.
