2000 version really is shite as well, but I kind of appreciate that it was their last tour and their way of showing they didn't give a fuck anymore, and Billy could still sell it. I have no idea why he decided to revive this for 2022.

I'll never understand why they enjoy long, unlistenable covers. (Transmission)

It's not one of their better covers, but I don't find it grating like some ppl here.

Rock On, on the other hand, is terribly underrated.

Why don't they play any of their BWBW covers? Those were actually good and enjoyable.

I didn't exactly hate the '00 version, but as teh said, it's not one of their better covers (and yeah, Rock On was great)

What I object to about bringing it back is that I thought they'd always done one distinct cover per era, so repeating this rather than coming up with something new to do is the really shite part about all this

Where's that Protestant Ethic I always appreciated about this goddamn band. You have grown fat and lazy, William Bollster. You live without discipline and will die without honor. This world will be ruled in blood. When no single human brick lies atop another, then will we be satisfied with your destruction.

Generally, SP does fantastic covers...
  • Never Let Me Down
  • Landslide
  • Girl Named Sandoz
  • Dancing In the Moonlight

It's when they do these long-ass "jams" that just are an unlistenable waste of time. "Once In a Lifetime" and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" are the two worst offenders that come to mind.

"Rock On" is the only one of these longer, jam-style examples that works okay.

NLMDA is another one good for the trash can.

The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club.

Cool story bro! You should write a book about it. Never let me down Tonight (tonight): The Unbelievable True Story of How I Discovered Smashing Pumpkins and Depeche Mode.

Btw Dave didn't write the damn song and was probably totally strung out on heroin when asked about it.

The version on this tour is absolutely atrocious. If you like it I’d question whether you actually have ears. Hackneyed boring riffs, no melody, lyrics randomly yelled with his horrible 2022 squawk (he can’t sing heavy songs anymore, no really dude you can’t). I get second-hand embarrassment from it. Yeah Jim’s drums are fine on it, but you can still be a tight band and be terrible as BC has shown us so many times before. I will be taking a piss break during this number.

SP's version of "Never Let You Down Again" is not only great, it's BETTER than the original. Hate all you want, it's the truth.

Looking back, that was a really weird five or six days here where we were all like "Oh shit, they sound amazing, he's really screaming again!" and so on, like I don't remember a single naysayer

A brief moment of doubt before our true faith returned to us, renewed, revived

i dunno bud that original fuckin' SLAPS but it is a damn fine cover & one of my favorite examples of a band truly making a song their own, at that point in time at least

you speak from such a place of authority, obnoxiously. beauty in the eye of the beholder, eh? I dig it, and I have fantastic ears.

there are other songs in this set i'd rather see get the axe. I'm tired of karaoke eye, for example.

Once In A Lifetime has never been one of their best covers but it was never all that awful. They've done way worse.

NLMDA is a great cover. Always liked it more than the original.

Isolation was pretty good actually and never gets any love

Rock On sucks and always has
Soul Power is just as bad

So does Sandoz, largely because it's a shit song to begin with

Most of the Aeroplane covers are pretty fucking bland with the exception of Clones and Dreaming, which were good, and A Night Like This which was offensively bad.

i love A Night Like This. it's charming and rocky. but never listened to the cure so i'm looking at it with fresh ears

NLMDA is great

Sandoz sucks ass

they did The Joker a few times during the Gish tour which was fun live. JC kills it

Don't Let Me Down was great

Fire and Rain last tour was groovy

I really expected them to be completely shit at doing this song in 2022.

interestingly, both versions sounded fine. I didn't even mind his vocals here.
