Thanks for the kind words though man. It helps to talk to someone who's been in the same place and manged to worked through it.

The weird thing with me is, I can stop for a few days even a week and then I just start thinking about how much I like it and how I can use a drink and it's like I totally forget about the headaches and shitstorms that it's lead to.
Went to AA twice, wasn’t for me

What im suggesting is i suspect it might help for u to get in front of someone who’s a professional substance abuse counselor, tell them everything, and hear their expert opinion

That’s what it took for me to get serious. Wasn’t AA. Just a counseling service through work

I've tried that over the past couple years with varying success but then usually I just end up doing the same old shit.

Even so, I've been a lot more responsible than I was years ago when I was regularly blacking out. I haven't blacked out since last summer and I believe that was the only time that year I blacked out.
don't make any plans

you are powerless

go to meetings. stop thinking and just listen for what you can identify with.

For as much of a dark & depressing reputation the album can get, the Adore era had a lot of stuff reminiscent of the softer, breezier side of Pisces

that's not weird, that's addiction

as far as AA - I hate AA for various reasons. however, I did Smart Recovery for a bit and it was much better. see if there are meetings near you: https://www.smartrecovery.org/local-meetings/

it's the anti-AA, really. you have power over your addiction (or rather, whether you indulge in it), you can learn to deal with it better, and other parts of your life need to change. you don't need meetings forever. a slip up isn't the end of the world and doesn't put you back at the beginning. spiritual aspect is absent unless you want it to be there. they won't condemn you for smoking weed once in a while. or, for example, i used to drink once in a blue moon and i never had a problem with it and no one tried to tell me it was the same thing as using my drug of choice. etc etc

I enjoy Adore. I also struggle with how much I enjoy alcohol.

This thread has been good for me, thanks.

yeah it's not bad. also there's a facilitator, not some rando with no training running the meeting. the one i used to go to was run by a legit therapist and they didnt even ask for donations or anything.
