He's contractually obligated to put out another new album for EMI, perhaps he may have scrapped the bunch of songs he was planning for it. I really haven't checked for any updates at all though, figured one of you guys would be in the know

The Internet is your friend...

The only downside being there is no ‘hurry’ for this album to arrive this year as planned. As people smarter than I think the year ahead needs the road clear for MTAE to gain traction. And with a new video being commissioned for DRUM + FIFE, those aren’t just pretty words. Still, I’d expect a first single by Fall, with the album to follow thereafter. That puts the timetable then at: record April-July, tour US (should proposed dates hold), and finish record by mid-Sept.

So, long story short, it appears the single could have theoretically been out by now, but more than likely it'll come out next year. Billy had to clear his schedule for the huge roll out of the "Run2Me" music video and People and Their Cars!

It’s almost done. There’s probably six to eight weeks of work left until we finish. Right now the record company is leaning towards the beginning of next year

Yes. The problem is, and I can’t talk about the specifics, but we’re in a dispute with what is now the parent company, which is Universal. Everything has been put on hold. If I told you the truth of it, you’d laugh your ass off, because it’s a classic record company story. I feel bad, because people on Twitter keep asking about it, and people seem to have come around on that record in the last five years. It sounds contemporary again for whatever reason. I do want to put it out, and it takes a lot of time and effort to go through all the tapes. I’ve invested a good 300 hours in preparing the project, and now it’s totally on hold. It is what it is. I’m not mad at anybody. I don’t have time to be mad.
