Default Will Candide sell out? Did you buy it?

Listen, people.

I'm a SP completist. As I routinely say, I'm still here after like 25 years of visiting this board relatively low on the radar.

I am stoked to have all of the archive releases on vinyl so far - the last one I went for, despite having access to most of it on YouTube.

But: this Candide thing tested my fandom and I decided to not get it.

Do you think this one will sell out? At this point, we have 1292/2000 non-signed records unsold.

My brothers in arms Cool As Ice Cream and Corgan's Bluff and I tracked the sale (or lack thereof) of Siddartha until the remaining units just disappeared from the website in a flash of "hey, that didn't happen".

So - what is the fate of Candide? Will you get one?

Also, ironic that there's a strong case that this is the best album jacket artwork of any of the archive releases so far.

If it had been a ltd 2000 copy CD release I would’ve laid down $30.

If it were digital I’d pay $10 or maybe source elsewhere tbh.

It is more listenable than Aegea/Sidd based on the clips played - fairly cool ambient music.

Nvm I’ll tell it
Machina was released on my birthday and one of my earliest memories was dragging my mom to the Sound Warehouse at west oaks mall to
Buy me the CD of it
My birthday is February 28th which is a weird birthday so I thought it was very cool
SIYL was my last dance wedding song
Fuck you Bill

Funny thing here is that I agree... it's really not that horrible.

I like many wish that all of these archive releases were CD as well. Weird but I'm still a CD guy deep down.

Love all of this. I agree. While not my favorite SP album - it's in the top three, sure - but still, there is SO much sentimentality tied to that record. I randomly threw on SIYL tonight as I was going to grill up a grilled cheese for my kid and shit man that album version still has it in spades.

I'm actually all for WPC releasing stuff like this. Why not, it's a cool little project and he clearly likes these synth explorations, I think a lot of the shit he's got for them is pretty lame. 2k copies is a big run though for something that's super niche. A run of 500/1000 would have sold out no prob.

Yeah but like put it out in other formats and don’t be a dick about it.
And release the Machina reissue.
Give Netphoria a little sugar.

I wonder if anyone who went to this "performance" in 2015 has been frothing at the mouth, seething through gritted teeth "WHEN IS HE GOING TO RELEASE CANDIDE???" because literally the only reactions I've seen online have been "what?" or "lol".

He should make the vinyl, sell the signed ones from Zuzu's only, thus encouraging people to come to Zuzu's.

Also put them on Bandcamp and you can download it or order the vinyl online from there too. Maybe do a limited run of posters or t-shirts, as the graphic is quite nice.

They don't need to go on Spotify, or Apple Music.

No. I just have no interest in listening to any of my favorite musicians doodle on synths to book readings. All there is to it.

Not buying.
Still smarting from having to pay $50 shipping and $80 import tax on top of the $225 for ATUM

As of now, there are 1289 remaining.

So we're looking at a solid one per day pace of sales.

I can think of at least 10,000 things I would rather spend $225 on.

Limited edition of 2000
Try adding 2000 to cart

1289 copies in cart

There are 55 pre orders of the autographed version left too.

I could clean out the Zuzu's shed for the low low price of $128,385.00!
Taxes and shipping calculated at checkout.
Winner pays for the bill.

If only there were some kind of state-funded grant to apply for, they wouldn’t be forced to make such outrageous prices

Down to 1286 remaining today. So we're pacing a little less than 1 sold daily still.

i came across a thing on instagram where he was playing the vinyl. and out of morbid curiousity i listened for like 25 minutes.

and i questioned the sanity of anyone who would spend money on that. even the completists. i love you guys. but that was.. ridiculous

I just wish they would retcon an album from the best recordings from the pre-Gish period and release it on a single record. Sort of a mash up of the Moon tape/Nothing ever Changes/ Ignoffo tape.

Or hell, just release these all separately with original art.

I would pay a regular vinyl price ($30) for one of these

I'm right there with you on that one.

1286 remain today. No sales since last week.

It's not like I want WPC to fail. I mean, I'm here, right? But this one is just too dang niche to succeed.
