Billy mentioned he named the tour "Spirits on Fire", I signed if that had something to do with the new album as well.

Seems like every year they mix and match bands like Alice in Chains, Korn, Breaking Benjamin, Bush, etc. Fairly similar to the Pumpkins/Noel Gallagher tour three years ago. Will they sell out? Probably not, and if so, it will be closer to the showdate and with Groupon deals. But since Livenation owns most of the venues and get a piece of every business transaction once you're in the venue, they just have to get ENOUGH people in the doors for it to be a success.

So tickets will probably start at a premium price and gradually get lower closer to the date of the show.
Why didn't Manson & SP play NBA arenas then?

I think this will sell really well for a number of factors.

1. Being backed by Live Nation brings in tickets. SAOSB did much better because of this.
2. Concerts and sporting events (other than baseball) seem to be doing really well. People seem to want to get out after 2 years of a pandemic.
3. Jane’s Addiction is a pretty big name for an opening act unlike something like Metric or Fancy Space People lol.
4. Band sounds great. Word gets out and skeptical people should want to go.

I wouldn’t be surprised if most shows sold out. That said, I am an idiot so don’t take my word.

Idk how big of a name JA is in 2022. 80k followers on IG tells they don't have a massive reach. Plus Smashing Pumpkins are not the perfect match. If they opened for RHCP their value would be much higher imo.

You might be right. I just think they will gobble up more tickets than Metric.

dunno how "niche" of an audience I represent, but the announcement of an announcement of Jane's as support definitely made the appeal of going see current-era Pumpkins again much higher 4 me

i'm not even the biggest Janey Addy fan but i'd certainly love to see 'em

Lord I hope this is a shorter set than SAOSB. I can’t do three hours of Bill these days. Cut some of the bloat, me boy.

Wow that Once in a Liftetime cover is atrocious. Quite possibly the worst thing they’ve ever done.

Also I absolutely hate Bill’s guitar tones with this rig. Nothing but midrange mud.

I'm thinking it's the iso cab that's making it so boomy in recordings.
It def sounds better than the last couple of tours on the audience shot vids though.

Such a bizarre Once In a Lifetime

those screams are eye openers like 'whoa wait stop the music, sounds like someone is in serious pain or undergoing a psychotic episode'

I was literally embarrassed to like this band watching that cover. If I was James I’d be heading for the exit after that. Such BC ego bloat and self indulgence run amok.

Other takeaways from this show. Billy dances like Trump and should always have a guitar around him. Coming out and posing like a wrestler at the start of the show was goofy as hell.

The Cyr songs fall flat live which is no surprise. Click tracks and backing tracks. Meh.

Looks like there will be several opportunities for a piss break during the shows at least.

Not a hot take, it's the 100% accurate take. This cover has always been shit.

I always hate these long, boring, drone-out covers. I also hated their cover of "Set the Controls" too. All they do is make me angry thinking of the 2 or 3 great SP songs the could be playing live instead.

I can't unsee the Trump dancing now. Ugh.

You also forgot to mention hat stupid "don't call it a dress" tunic and horrible makeup. He can dress normal on Stern and Corden, why does he consistently have to dress in these ridiculous outfits? Maybe that's my "hot take" but Chloe needs to sit him and and tell him to stop it.

once in a lifetime rips. those constant heavy accents are so good.

i think he sounds fine - better than the early 2010s at least. i do hate not having amps onstage though. diminishes the vibe and looks weird, just having the racks and the drums behind them

Well I was wrong. Ticket sales are pathetic for this tour. Way worse than Shiny.

Dude don’t make excuses for them just cause of Jimmy. He always sounds good. The reason this cover is so bad is Billy’s terrible vocals and him just randomly placing the lyrics of this song all over the place. Truly horrid. It’s just so hamfisted and poorly done. If I was David Byrne I’d send him a cease and desist letter.

My old boss reached out as he knew I'm a big SP fan after he saw the tour announcement with JA. I'm surprised he was into it. He never talked about music when I worked with him. It was almost always sports.

Are you sure he's not reaching out to do a "once in a lifetime" with you in the parking lot? Cos that's what it seems.
