Well obviously. I was just pointing out that you saying this should happen is progressive in the "moving forward or onward" sense.

amazing display by monte for sure but just to touch on this point

"Andrew says (4:47 PM):
why do you resist using it though when all other countries in the world have converted over to it, your isolated as one of the only that still uses it, practically all scentific research is done in metric even in the U.S. but America as a society resists changing for no real logical reason
"

i dont think its necessarily true there's no "real logical reason" to stay in american measurements. the world gets by fine with america using a non-metric system. is it really a big deal? It would seem like unncessary effort to try to change something that works for us and that we're already very used to when it really isn't inconveniencing anyone else.

worked great, indeed.

btw NASA is using metric already since early 90's or so. Do you think NASA switched just for fun?

My father gets pretty pissed off having to switch from metric to imperial standards all the time in his work, depending on who his contractor is.

although Monte never gave a yes/no answer, I think a lot of things indicate he's been either home-schooled or wasn't exposed to high school education at all.

i had no idea monte was this stupid. if you already make several incorrect statements in an argument, why would anything else you say have any validity if you make no attempt to defend your facts or acknowledge your mistakes?

Andrew, in America (at least connecticut) science classes are taught in the SI system, but since kids here learn the customary system growing up, we're taught how to convert back and forth. otherwise, most kids getting educated now have to learn the SI system.

i also apologize on behalf of americans everywhere for your conversation with monte. if you just assume your country is the biggest, baddest and best around, looks like you just mold all your opinions to support that falsehood.

monte, i thought you were just an intelligent guy whose strict adherence to religion and prude attitude just put off the more secular people. this conversation was an eye-opener.

personally i think he really stood out towards the beginning.

he hit hard and early with

and
Quote:
Yes and everyone thought the world was flat too
; my personal favorite being:
Quote:
I think it is b/c all of these "joke" cities we have
because I mean, he LIVES IN HAYWARD.

but it's hard to beat the 1-2 punch of this gem:

A couple of billion ppl changing to C would be pretty stupid
...

U figure out a way to teach billions of ppl a new system
