There are some nice clouds in the sky here at the moment. I'm lying on my bed looking at them.

That would've been something. I don't understand the relevance, though

I think I'll buy an air fryer this week. I keep saying I'm going to get one, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm going to start eating more vegetables.

If it weren't for my air fryer, my life would be identical to Arthur Fleck's before he becomes The Joker.
I love you, air fryer. |

w00f.
I've been on break from work since August 2nd. Starting today, I am back PT and remotely until September 16. I didn't get in trouble or anything; I just needed to use VESSA (the Victims' Economic Security and Safety Act) for time off. In a nut, I was attacked by a crazy lady; a man acquaintance who was with me ended up dying from an injury he got trying to help me. I obviously will not relay the details of what happened to him or what I saw. We had only met that evening and spent the last few hours of his life together--it's not fair. I am lucky to have ended up with only 7 bite marks (including 1 on my face), so many bruises, a jammed finger, glass in my feet, and a swollen ankle. Plus, the trauma aspect which comes and goes. Mostly lots of nightmares, guilt, and unexpected bouts of crying. Obviously, August has been a looong month. Other than that, things are swell. >_> I've been rollerskating a bit more, getting sun, hanging with an old friend, and seeing a new therapist. That's fucking crazy, I'm sorry you've had to go through all of that. Sounds extremely traumatic. I am glad you are on the mend -- I guess therapy will be pretty important at the moment. Good luck with everything.

I'm an immortalist, so it's impossible to say when I'll be middle aged.
In seriousness, though, how long would you guys like to be alive in your current form? I mean, if you could live as long as you wanted, and you were (or became) pretty happy and healthy, how long would you stick around? Would you go on indefinitely? Would you combine with technology if there were clear benefits? |

The usual lifespan for a person, where you die somewhere in your 80s provided you've avoided fatal illnesses, accidents, murderers and whatnot, sounds like just about the right amount to me.
I've probably popped off about this before, but wanting to live forever is for suckers, imo. It sounds great until you realize the universe will eventually spread out into individual atoms, billions of light years apart, and you'll either be spread out as well, or the only object left in the void. And you're like that for a trillion years until God peeks in and is like "Oh, someone's still in this one? I was about to hit the reset button. You're probably going to be happy to have something to do again." And then you're Galactus! It's all shit! |

nothing about living makes sense if we don't die
but still, no amount of philosophy can smooth over how much it's going to suck when it's our turn |

Though concerns about heat death of the universe, or even just the end of life on earth, or even just the end of comfortable human civilization, are all concerns that would make me not want to be literally immortal, I don't think I'd turn down living for a very, very long time, granted that:
1. I remain ageless instead of getting some Tithonus bum deal. 2. I have some procedure in place to easily make new identities so that the government and anyone else fail to notice that I'm 467 years old instead of the age I appear to be. 3. Despite creating new identities, I'm still able to effortlessly transfer my wealth from identity to identity. I know there's the whole "you'll see everyone you love die" thing, but I'm sure that by the death of my fifth wife, I'll get used to it and learn to just cherish the time I spend with people even more. I don't know, there's so much shit to do in the world that I don't think I'd get bored if I lived for 1,000 years. I could spend one lifetime as a musician, another lifetime as an astrophysicist, another lifetime as a screenwriter, another one as a circus clown, etc. Hell, I could probably become a world leader at some point as a lark. I could live lives all over the world and meet a lot of people. I could become an expert on several topics and master several skills. |

Actually, scratch that. By year 137, probably all the shit I wanna do gets automated, everyone gets matched up with their partner for life via sorting algorithm, and the next 863 years are boring as fuck. I think I'll choose the normal lifespan.
