I'd go as far as to say that the biggest problem with modern music imo is that instead of writing for themselves, people do it to cater to an audience and\or play by rules of established genre

Fuck that shit

In that way, Buckcherry is actually quite rock n' roll

My solution to the modern pickle is to completely forget about money, validation, success or any of that external irrelevant shit at all, and just make music only for me, because I love and need to do it
imagine how hard so many dudes are going into "finance punk" like they genuinely don't care about the content they just want to make as much money as possible

that's why you have like (an easy example) a hair metal band like Alice N Chainz rebrand as Alice in Chains and entirely change their sound.

I always get a bit sad when I see a musician or a band entirely change their style or rebrand themselves but on the other hand it's like that's what a "working musician" is - it's just a job right? sometimes you have to switch jobs to find the one that's a good thing

but on the other hand this is supposed to be art and not commerce

but we all know what a joke that is - so i guess my point is that rock and roll is too nice

refinement culture has shaved down and smoothed out all of the rough edges of rock music by now that you can just listen to a band and go "oh this sounds nice" because it was approved by an HR department

You can have my autograph
I think I'll sign it "Love to you"
But should I (sign it just for you?)

(Stairway to the stars) think I'll write, "Good health to you"
(Stairway to the stars) we got better things to do

You can drive my motorcar, it's insured to thirty thou
(Kill them all if you wish)

(Stairway to the stars, think I'll write, "Good health to you")
(Stairway to the stars, we got better things to do)

Mow ’em down now

You can have my autograph
I think I'll sign it "Good health to you"
On the cast of your broken arm

(Stairway to the stars) think I'll write, "good health to you"
(Stairway to the stars) I hope you heal up real quick

(Stairway to the stars)
(Stairway to the stars)
(Stairway to the stars)
(Stairway to the stars)

C'mon, let's get on outta here

I heard Crazy Bitch on the radio yesterday morning and was astonished how the entire song is like one verse and one chorus over and over and over again

good for them and the millions that bought it

Is rock and roll simply the product of the white middle-class monoculture of the 20th century?

one of my favorite parts of redneck/trash culture is that they seem to be hardwired into loving this song

is it because redemption is a theme that hits close to home? repressed emotions that cannot be expressed except via a song?

fuck so good i'm on top of it?
