It's not about liking it or being elitist, its more about the thought that some sort of imposable magical audio experience is created. Also the belief that this idea was unique at all. People had been experimenting with this for decades, Wayne was the only one high enough to expect people to find an insane amount of audio equipment to pull off the surround sound gimmick.

not sure if we're still discussing those arcade fire songs, but i listened to them and really did not find them appealing. i found them boring and disappointing

Agreed. The reasons I started to love this band are not really there anymore. Maybe this is their Green Album?
