Sure some of the projects he works on aren't my cup of tea but you cannot deny that he understands the fundamental dynamics of "guitar playing" and also his girlfriend is super hot you're all just nerdy haters.

I believe it was the latter one. The "Iha is a piece of shit and one of the worst human beings I've ever met" quote was from an NME interview in 2012, in which he also lambasted Jimmy if I remember correctly.

It was extra funny to me, because that was in the middle of the "this is the right band, the vibes are good" Oceania era, and then he drops that gem of an interview lol

From the NME interview, he said Jimmy was "fucking liar," but that he wished Jimmy the best, called James Iha a piece of shit, and said D'arcy was cool in his book and an "innocent" in the shit that went down the dissolution of the old band. Funny how much things changed. The whole thing was clearly him desperately trying to get attention for the Oceania press cycle.
