The problem is that it's not an entirely unreasonable assumption at this point

i gave this track a couple days before forming an opinion

conclusion... it doesn't suck but also not great, it doesn't have a fucking chorus! it's half assed.

EXT. CORGAN MANSION – DUSK

The curtains of an upstairs window part. Billy's face appears, eyes squinted toward the adjacent Chamberlin residence, where sounds of familial mirth dance warmly in the fading twilight. He places cupped hands on either side of his mouth.

Billy places the open end of a used soup can over his ear. He scowls impatiently.

And let it be known I very carefully chose what my first reply would be after taking a 6 year hiatus on Netphobia. 🙃

This is like teargarden where they released a song on a certain cadence. Except now they hired interviewers to blow them for 20 minutes leading up to the track.

Jimmy came across fine on the podcast. The story about him stopping drumming during an I Am One rant on Lolla and pacing back and forth behind the drum kit smoking while Billy insulted the audience was gold. Billy also said that some of the band members (*cough* James and D’arcy) thought the rants went too far sometimes and that it was bad for business to insult the audience and other bands. They weren’t wrong.

Jimmy being dumb- you’ve got to be a real isolated cunt with no friends to read into it that way.

Speaking of dumb, I’ve read a lot of dumb shit on this board lately. The majority of the cynicism isn’t even intelligent anymore. The cynicism used to be so authentic and backed by legit arguments. Now it’s just a bunch of bozos guessing what they think they *know* is going on. Hatephoria no more

Bring your A game, assholes.

Jimmy comes across way more intelligently than billy does, that’s for sure.

I have seen all 3 other members of the classic lineup look exasperated by the I Am One rants tbh, although D'Arcy was by far the most obvious about it.

I listened to this one, cos it was JC and I wanted to hear it.

It was alright. Telling that at the outset of the band Billy informed them that he would NOT be taking onboard any feedback on the lyrics; in fact they were expressly forbidden to comment on his lyrics.

With regards to Good in Goodbye, does anyone think the drumming isn't that great? I mean technically it's good, but I don't like some of the things he does, like those straight snare hits (just annoying) and also I'm not crazy about the way it goes double time. I'm never a fan of that; one of the later Oceania songs did that (Inkless? Chimera? Can't remember).

No, he's not dumb, he's normal. He just wants to play drums and get paid. He doesn't know or give a shit about half the things Billy writes or sings. Don't mistake apathy for lack of intelligence.

Spending 30 years around Billy Corgan might do that to a man
