Default Thinking of moving to a new city

Been in Atlanta for too long. I know some boarders here have had really successful big life changes. Did you look for the right opportunity or just take the leap and hope it worked out?

Also where should I move?

i dunno your circumstances or age or lifestyle or anything about you really, but i picked up and left for los angeles when i was 22 without a job or place to live and no foreseeable opportunities. i cant say it's been at all easy, but looking back on it 11 years later and it was probably the best decision ive made for myself in my "adult" life.

The Pacific Northwest has a lot of good social supports in place if things don't immediately work out. Getting health insurance was a life changer for me, once some of my medical stuff got sorted out I was able to progress in other areas. Although Seattle and Portland aren't the cleanest or safest, maybe one of the satellite cities around them. I lived in Washington for about 1.5 years and Oregon for 3.5 years now, and it's peaceful. The rural areas of these states definitely suck, though.

If you like a lot of bustle and culture, Austin is obviously very popular. I lived there for 12 years and found it great when I was in my teens and 20s, would be too much for me now. Although they have literally everything there, and that is very convenient. Can't vouch for places I haven't lived, so those are my ideas.

We’ve moved cities a few times - only my husband was working, each time, and he always had a job lined up before we moved. It’s a bit tricky to do, but worth it in the end - moving is expensive so it’s good to have income from day one

My suggestion is pick somewhere and go!

My last move was to DC because my spouse broke up with me and I lost my job. I don't recommend moving here. But I've had good times here, at least till 2020 when COVID and Trump turned the city into a nightmare.

I just got a new job and I'm moving in two months to Seattle. It's just as expensive as DC, but The Pacific NW has a much better vibe IMO. I prefer the weather there. And there are more job opportunities that don't involve working for tht government
