re: "woke" as a pejorative. i think you have misunderstood trots's perspective on wokeness, which is diametrically opposed to that of the boomer. boomers hate it because it challenges them to cede economic power to minorities. leftists hate it, because it's not very effective in doing that. wokeness routinely gets co-opted into something politically ineffectual, that doesn't actually give economic power back to minorities. did you know a whopper could be gay? we need to hire more female cops. also hating elon musk is anti-autistic. that is the wokeness we hate, and rooting for a celebrity on social media is not anything close to an action that helps the working class

and, i dunno, making a statement like "lazy people who sit on the couch and can't do X are not allowed to have an opinion on X" is quite cruel and ableist. i don't know if you truly posted that, but that's how he characterized it. i am not surprised anyone would be triggered by that, especially like, a history nerd that grew up fat and poor? after his reply to me, i recognized the simone biles stuff as mostly sarcastic, going on the offensive after feeling bodyshamed.

man i love trots and he can be quite combative with me on the occasion we still talk but his morals are solidly in the right place even if he occasionally slips into a nihilistic rage. distinctly remember my first flaming from him. summer of 2000, he "threatened" to come to florida from texas and murder me. i provided him my actual home address, and that got him going even more. i'd say he has improved a little bit over time, at least in terms of it happening a lot less.
