My memory of D4N is WPCs blog posts that were all like

"Today it was EYES AFIRE which as you know is a heavy rocker in the classic Pumpkins tradition. We tried this every which way but none brought a smile to Howards stern face. And no I don't mean the face of my good friend Howard Stern but that of......rambles for 1000 words...ultimately, lacking the STARDUST needed - We do declare it COUGARED..for now..."

Back when he posted on Instagram, he also mentioned that "Alienation" from Shiny and "Telegenix" from CYR were songs for D4N. He also told someone that although CYR had a different track list, it was a good approximation of what the "vibe" for D4N would have been. If I remember correctly, when they were still working on the D4N album, he specifically said it would not have a drummer.

nice. so basically we heard it. it was cyr. and anything we didn't hear on cyr was a cyr b-side. which im ok with that just sitting there in a can or wherever

It's horrifying to think that we have been living in the D4N era since 2015. Basically, it is the new TbK. Listening to Roustabout now it is clearly in the vein of Cyr.
