I think "Widow" might still be worse, but I don't want to listen to them back-to-back to decide for sure.

I suppose in the same way some actors take on family friendly films to appease their children, maybe the tune's supposed to appeal to his.
Alternatively, it could just be just to wind-up everyone on here.

It does sound like an Aga-Do style tune you normally used to hear old men play to in the back of grotty mens clubs.

Yeah the worst ever by far. In fact it’s so bad it’s engaging in a way.

you have to really picture the story around it like he describes in the podcast. i mean that. its like watching the room. well, watching the room in the mid 2010s when you first discovered it i guess. its great in that exact way.

Think Widow and the Mormon choir top it for pure lazy tastelessness but it's prob number two

Hooray! has it's own outsider artist discovered by the internet type thing going on

What would fill out the rest of the top 5? Run2Me, Death From Above in there I think. Something horrible from Cyr too

Adore era - Annie Dog, Because You Are
Machina era - HMM industrial version, alternate Saturnine, probably some others on M2

Would’ve been an alright b-side. ‘Waiting’ was a much better song.

I just relistened to Widow and Run2me, and while they are obviously crap, his vocals even there were soooo much better there than they are now. Good god they have just become atrocious as of late.

Yea, honestly, even though this song is pretty fucking terrible, it is at least more interesting than anything off the last four albums or so. Interesting doesn't necessarily mean good, but at least i'm not bored as fuck from it.

It's bad but I don't think it's the worst. I think it fits in with the bad vibes of this whole album, not sure why this is the one that went too far as opposed to the song right alongside it.

I always hated "Blank". Everything else on the TT single was amazing.

"Annie-Dog" is great. And it fits better on Adore than "Waiting" because it's more melancholic. "Waiting" is too upbeat.

I also like both versions of "Heavy Metal Machine" and "Saturnine."

As for SP1 songs I'm not hot on… "The Last Song" is a bit too sappy for me. Same with "The Bells." "Transformer" is kinda a boring, straight-forward rock song. It's grooviness is nice, but not enough to prevent me from usually skipping it. "Untitled" is also boring and sounds like an SP2 song from Zeitgeist or Oceania or something, and it wouldn't even be the best song on either of those albums.

"Blank" is okay, but "Blank Page" is much better.

I never connected with transformer.. sort of an annoying song. last song was so so for me too although i loved it as i got older.

But yeah- widow wake my mind, run2me, pomp and circumstance, come on lets go, for god and country, wildflower, drum & fife are all pretty terrible. Hooray is just a new addition to that.

I kind of want to make a playlist of their most horrendous songs, give it to friends that have never really listened to SP, get their reaction. just for fun.

I’m gonna have to disagree on all accounts here. I don’t find “Waiting” to be upbeat at all in any sort of saccharine way. It’s still a melancholic song. It would’ve fit in perfectly near Dusty and Pistol Pete. Much better song than Annie Dog.

M2 has some really turgid industrial tracks that just sound like noise and those are two of them.

The Last Song is great. I could’ve seen it on the album in place of Take Me Down easily. And The Bells is hands down one Iha’s most beautiful songs. Could’ve been on the album too.
