I know that feeling personally where it's like you want to do what you love but then someone comes along and says "yea no but actually your talents lay here" and then you crab-swirl and have to re-configure your entire life

probably just me tho

no you don't. you think you might but you don't.

i'm not very good at explaining vocal stuff but like the way you modulate your voice over syllables in words is very country. I think maybe it's like a slide guitar where you're constantly evading and searching for the correct pitch? Maybe that's it?

there are tons of idiots making hand over fist money doing that thing you're doing with your voice. all you have to do is grow a beard if you don't have one.

Get a Peavey amp and a wah pedal and a Telecaster dude.

you're basically describing how WPC sings minus the over powering nasality.

The way he could dip in and out and around of "pitch" is very magic

BC has admitted he has a stereotypically Irish voice which is basically a country ballad music voice

i'm mostly shitting on modern country. i don't hate it. the current culture surrounding country music really sours me on it, though.

pop country is always 15-20 years behind regular pop trends. i'm honestly surprised there aren't any pop country hits that feature screaming

so back to the point - i guess i was thinking of the modern guys who do that kind of 70s style. not hitting the charts though certainly.

I don't think the vocals sound like a country singer, not stylistically at least. It's more like an accent, a la Michael Stipe.
