if the dem/elite and repub/working class realignment persists long-term, i feel like i have more confidence in the gop to turn into something positive post-trump than the dems.

I am somewhat convinced that he is the luckiest man in the world and will live to be 150. Escaped every legal consequence for everything ever, embarked on a bunch of failing business ventures but then reality TV fashioned his public image into that of a successful businessman, the White House doctor who also served under Obama declared that Trump is remarkably healthy despite being obese… he wins every coin flip.

I wouldn't be surprised if presidents have a much higher prevalence of narcissism or anti-social personality disorder than the general populace, because if you just wanted to "make the world a better place," you'd volunteer at a soup kitchen instead of seeking the highest elected office in the world. You probably need some ego and a need for admiration to wanna be POTUS.

Luckily for Trump, though, being POTUS doesn't mean doing the annoying work of being POTUS. It means waking up at noon and watching Fox News/tweeting all day as your administration carries on the agenda you're a figurehead for. Hell, toward the end of Biden's term, he was also sleeping in and not doing a lot. But the difference is that he doesn't have insane people on his staff and cabinet.

Trump believes, like his father did before him, that people are born with a certain amount of energy that slowly runs out and cannot be replenished in any way. This is why he will never exercise—it would use up his energy faster.

My only real thought on why Harris lost and Trump won is, it's probably got very little to do with the stuff we Extremely Online people obsess over. I'm sorry, Squish Squash, but millions of Democrats did not decide not to vote for the candidate who wholly aligned with their values, and would prevent the other candidate from essentially ending the version of America they believe in, because Dick Cheney said some nice things about her.
