The songs you completely forgot about thread
This is a thread for those hit songs that you forgot all about and haven't listened to since their initial release
Lemme get the ball rolling' I remember this song was pretty huge, and forgot all about these guys until browsing through an old issue of Guitar World. Pretty catchy song and admittedly fun video |

I remember at the time in 2000 Warner Bros was pushing super hard for this band. They thought they had the next Blink or Green Day on their hands and were promoting em as such. Even though me and all my friends were really into pop-punk at the time and were the exact target audience- no one fucking liked these guys and we all thought the song sucked.
I mean "whats the dillio?" They thought that shit would sell? Even so this song was pushed pretty hard and kinda funny to look back on |

I actually went through a phase at one point of liking this next band but for most people they only might remember this song that was played once in awhile on alt-rock radio during I think 96 or 97?
It's actually a pretty good song which has been completely forgotten in the sands of time. *fun fact* they're piece of music that is best known is the theme to the Buffy the vampire Slayer TV show |

Songs I Forgot About & Was Very Happy Having Stayed Forgotten!
this isn't quite what you're looking for but: there was this one 90s house (i think) song that had a vocal line that went something like "give it up give it up give it up right NOW" or something that's been stuck in my head recently, but fuck if i could actually place the title or artist name |

haha yeah the whole timing surrounding the debut of that song was kinda weird. There was nothing else really going on at that time that sounded like it that was popular but out of nowhere came that song which was super big. It's obvious why the band was never able to progress and be huge, just wasn't the time and climate for it to happen. It's a wonder how that song became as big as it did, but alas the song couldn't even stand the test of time to at least cement the band as a legitimate 1-hit wonder.
Sucks to be American Hi-Fi |

It's a catchy song. But as far as what was trendy it seemed like an odd band for the majors to push. If anything it sounded kinda dated at that point (which is maybe why they thought of the video's concept)

but I guess if the majors knew the song was gonna be a hit, may as well pump it up. Hopefully sell a million C.D's on the back of the song and walk away laughing.

I did come across the band in a magazine a week or 2 ago though so that kinda reintroduced them to some far off vessel of my mind |

Just heard this song playing along my travels. I wouldn't say it's forgettable- but goddamn if I wasn't originally aware of it actually being a genuinely great song |
