Default singer talks about taking drugs to cure writers block and write songs

http://pagesix.com/2016/12/05/the-we...writers-block/

Born Abel Tesfaye, the Toronto native dabbled in drugs at an early age. After moving out of his mom’s home at the age of 17, the singer and friend La Mar Taylor got a one-bedroom apartment in the suburb of Parkdale, where they spent their money on a variety of substances including MDMA, cocaine, cough syrup, mushrooms and Ketamine.
As for his latest release, “Starboy,” The Weeknd looked to drugs again to spark inspiration.
“I’ll be completely honest with you. The past couple of albums, I do get back to that,” he said. “Even on this new album. You have writer’s block. And sometimes you’re like, I can’t do this sober.”

Cough Syrup word up! Mad respekt yo. One of these days I'll repost my cough syrup poem just to show off my astounding literary senescentness

The Weeknd has previously stated that he drew inspiration from The Frogs' Starjob, feeling that its message is more relevant today than ever and that modern audiences were in dire need of a contemporary update.

Is Pete Doherty still alive. I remember a news story about how he had a bag of boi drop out of his pocket at a court session for heroin possession.

Lol

I was really hoping this whole thread was just going to be spoken in vague pronouns and rock cliches in some kind of Lynchian self-aware Catherine Wheel experience

but alas, a Weeknd thread is not that far off

drugs are cool

but I doubt they'd solve being talentless

I think it's more that artistic people are the type of people more likely to do drugs

I had to educate myself that there was no such thing as writer's block, that writers write when they write, and when they don't, they don't.
