#$%*! Phil Collins - Grr
I have to listen to "Light" radio at work. They play an absurd amount of Phil Collins on this station. So, to calm my anger, Ihave been keeping an Excel spreadsheet of what songs are played on each day and at what times. After hearing one Phil/Genesis song per hour today, I decided to email their program director. The email follows below.
Eric, I can't stand Phil Collins. Nothing personal. Anyhow, to keep my anger at a minimum while at work during the day, I've been keeping a spreadsheet of what Phil Collins/Genesis songs are played and when they are played. Do you have a contract to fulfill? Is it required that you play 'Can't Stop Loving You' an average of nearly twice a workday? Are your DJs required to play Phil/Genesis once an hour (as they've done today)? I've *******d some of the data for you to review. This data has been collected during business hours (M-F) since March 14th. For posterity’s sake, we have been without radio on 2 Mondays, a Friday, and a Wednesday. Disgustingly enough, these numbers reflect amounts lower than the actual Phil airplay totals - God forbid anyone be exposed to even more Phil Collins than this data suggests. (If you want a copy of the data in hourly and daily format, in Excel- with a chart to break it all down visually - I do have one available.) Song # of Spins Can't Stop Loving You 16 Sussudio 3 In the Air Tonight 1 Can't Hurry Love 2 In Too Deep 2 Groovy Kind of Love 1 Misunderstanding 4 Take Me Home 1 That's All 1 One More Night 2 Against All Odds 5 Thru My Eyes 1 Throwing it All Away 2 Another Day in Paradise 1 Take care, Eric. As someone with radio programming experience, I wish you all the best in holding down your job. Mike After sending this, I also sent an email to the on-air DJ requesting another Phil song. |

You should be thankful they're not playing the Bone thugs remake of Take me Home.

The disturbing thing is, in four weeks time, they've only played 14 of his songs. I know there are WAY more than that to be played. You'd think they wouldn't need to play one of those songs 16 times and could add a different one in there. Or at least throw in some 'Easy Lover'. |
