well when I was younger my dad mostly listened to the eagles, boston, and pink floyd and my mom mostly listened to carly simon and the bee gees.

blame it on them i guess?

Point taken, however the music I was raised on had no influence on the music I currently listen to, it was a natural progression from the rebellious attitude of my youth to my appreciation for certain aspects of my parent's choice of genre. About a year ago, I gave my dad a Ryan Adams CD and he cried, knowing that it was an album that meant a lot to me, yet the presence of steel guitars somehow related to who he was.

I told my dad that I listen to alt-country and he was very confused. I didn't try to explain. I may as well have told him I am gay.
