i think it rules

the vox are too loud, but it's still the best mix / overall band sound on the record [not saying much but still]

katie cole ruins everything she touches, SP wise. i remember liking her a few years ago on tour, but on the record it's most grating, over the top campy bullshit.

i'd go so far as to say if there's more stuff like this, and [fngers crossed] maybe a few porcelina-y tracks, this would be the best SP record since machina

to be fair that was only ever played live, and who knows if ever recorded.
an artist should be allowed to use their ideas more than once.
especially with how insanely prolific billy is. it's bound to happen.
I would guess that the majority SP fans, realistically, don't know As Rome Burns even exists

On his guests appearances, people are looking for Jimmy to just do his Jimmy thing, and play acoustic drums blah blah and its awesome

If the tidbits I've heard him say about the new SP stuff are to be believed, then he seems to be using the new Pumpkins music as a space to experiment with different drumming styles and processes, for example programming drums and playing less busy beats, using triggers, etc.

Because he's given different directions. Even if he played a different way, Billy has his "vision" and so that's what we're going to hear.

yeah i don't want to quote directly but just listen to it.

my biggest disappointment here is that they cut out the extended solo ending.. that just put a cherry on the sundae. And I knew that was going to be cut from this as soon as I heard Billy say "but Ruby gets cut off by the government before she can finish her scathing broadcast"

i still like it.

I'm going to reserve opinions about the mix until it's available in lossless.

I could barely stand listening to it with Ram turning the vox down.

The riff is like listening to a bar band cover Muse from 20 years ago.

The melody sounds like someone with hearing loss trying to rock out.

And then what are those synths at the end, sounds like Jethro Tull.

There hasn't been a song yet I've listened to more than once or twice. Stuff like Silvery Sometimes feels like a miracle at this point.
