Cute, you have a list of enemies.

Run2pee and ruse bring more substance to this board than you could ever dream of.

Enemies? Not at all.

I thought you'd be happy to sacrifice yourself for The Cause.

To try to make your life make sense. But you're not making seeeense

I honestly loved Honestly back then (and still like it to a certain extent).
I was 13 and super hyped because I just found out about the pumpkins and thought Zwan would be an equally magical ride

It's a really good song, it's just not what i was expecting and when i heard it i was like "oh big willie is trying to write 'today' again or some other world-conquering hit and this doesn't feel especially felt or moving, it's just catchy and well-constructed but it's not touching me in my parts" and etc etc

After listening to my 2002-Apr-5 bootleg from the Blue Note show for months and months, it just struck me as like hmmm this doesn't feel authentic, doesn't sound like zwan

I did not like Honestly. I don't like the Zwan album. I do not look at Zwan as fondly as others do.

i actually think Honestly's alright, & like a few off the album but some of you are absolutely wearing very vivid rose-tinters when talking about Zwan (at least when it comes to acting like MSOTS is "miles above" ZG & co) because god damn that was just an insane steep drop-off being his first studio release after Machina

Thumbs up

Personally, I recognize the steep disparity between pre-MSOTS Zwan and, well, MSOTS Zwan, but when that record came out, that was all I'd heard of them, and I liked it. There were some clunkers, but the songs I recall (I like Honestly a lot) were good. "Remove my spirit from darkness / Love become my hammer" is such a good line I'm still convinced he lifted it from something, but I've never been able to find out what. And the non-album stuff, hell, there's a lot of good shit there. When they worked, they were great.

Sure, but it was better than anything that came out after including zeitgeist

If i want to go ooooh chexk out those blistering omf those wicked those guitars and wooo-eeee them killer drums, and not connect emotionally at all

There is Pantera and Metallica and all the other shit the younger folk listen to. As a bonus, these bands don’t have bored dry outrageously loud vocals ruining everything that is otherwise good in this shitworld

I like Honestly about as much as I don't like the rest of the album. Mildly. They're very neutral, pleasant enough but no spice.

Agree that it's great, but imagine he sang Ogilala / Cotillions / in fact everything since with that voice. It would be massively improved.

I feel like equating ZG to this is on par with me always looking back on Mary Star as a lame christian rock "adjacent" record. it's not really true but the first impressions clearly led us that way

i don't love zeitgeist but it's at least more fun to listen to for me than most of the SP-related records surrounding it (excluding JCC)
