Garth Brooks' mom sings for you
'Egomaniac Garth Brooks turned down Saving Private Ryan role because he wanted to be main star,' claims ex-business partner in lawsuit Country music star Garth Brooks could have made it big on the silver screen if it wasn't for his own ego, according to a damning new lawsuit. The 51-year-old singer is described as a 'paranoid, vindictive [and] deceitful' individual by his former business partner, claiming he killed deal after deal with film studios by making ridiculous demands. Lisa Sanderson, who worked with the multi-award-winning artist for 20 years - claims Brooks lured her to jump start his TV and film career, but is now seeking damages for lost earnings. But she alleges Brooks was his own worst enemy, shooting down opportunities to work with the likes of Disney and Fox among other big picture houses. According to celebrity website TMZ, which obtained the details of the lawsuit, Brooks was offered a roll as a sniper in the 1998 movie Saving Private Ryan. But he refused to sign on the dotted line because 'he wanted to be the star and was unwilling to share the limelight with... Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and Edward Burns'. The lawsuit also documents how he also turned down a role in 1996 flick Twister, with Sanderson claiming he turned down the part of a bad guy because he didn't want to take second place to a tornado. Sanderson claims that while the She's Every Woman singer portrays himself publicly as 'a humble and highly principled 'everyman' he is actually a 'paranoid, angry, deceitful and vindictive man who will turn against those closest to him on a dime'. She now wants $425,000 in unpaid bonus and salary, along with punitive damages, saying Brooks lied to her about the money she could make if she stuck by him. Sanderson also makes allegations about Garth's tax status, accusing him of being a fraud, TMZ reports. Garth has won a slew of awards for his music over the years, including two Grammys and 17 American Music Awards. And with 128m albums sold, he is the second-best-selling solo artists of all time, behind Elvis Presley (with 134.5m sales). But his only acting credit is in the 1999 TV film Behind the Life of Chris Gaines, according to IMDB. Brooks came out of retirement in 2009, nine years after announcing he was taking a break from the music scene. He signed up for a residency at the Wynn casino in Las Vegas for three years, which ended in November last year. Garth is now married to fellow country artist Trisha Yearwood, following his divorce from college sweetheart, songwriter Sandy Mahl, in 2001, who he has three daughters with. |

I don't know, that story sounds like something Brooks' nemesis Chris Gaines would plant to discredit him. I know Gaines was offered the role of the cow in Twister, so it all kind of lines up.
