I believe that much of the obtuse behavior has a significant relationship with John Gabriel's Internet Fuckwad Theory which goes as follows;

ffs you know that there are many, many people who have had really bad experiences with BC, both fans and musicians / industry people. there is also a long list most people already know and recite of all the promises and ideas BC has had that have not eventuated at all. I'm not saying crucify him because of it, or that it necessarily overpowers the positive he's done. But at the same time the positives you mention don't take away the negatives either.

And no-one is saying that they hate everything about the pumpkins. they don't like SOME of what "the smashing pumpkins" have done. everyone here likes something about the smashing pumpkins, past or present.

What harm has Billy ever done to his fans? I don't think he owes his fans anything and vice versa except for simple respect. As for the bad relationships, those are mainly due to unscrupulous behavior with people on drugs, and Sharon Osborne; who is unfit to sit at a dinner table.

thanks. certainly it was meant to be a more focussed record than their previous few, which i don't take as a lack of ambition. it's like Gish to me in that the biggest statement it tries to make is simply "this is what we sound like right now".

So BC is right and everyone else is wrong? lol i don't think so.

i was just stumbling through the deerhunter wiki entry and found this:

"They were scheduled to support The Smashing Pumpkins for two dates in Asheville, North Carolina, but left after playing only one, due to a confrontation between Cox and Smashing Pumpkins's lead singer Billy Corgan"

that sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME with BC. he's a prick, everyone knows that.

Death from Above is energetic and cutting-edge is what it is. And the live version blasts you with sincerity.

i wouldn't go that far you crazy corgan worshipper, but it sounds cool in a retro 80's bad pop way. especially when those toms kick in, it sounds like the soundtrack to horses galloping in a movie to me, always makes me laugh.

It's all Smashing Pumpkins music. If you honestly and truly believe that their new stuff doesn't sound like Smashing Pumpkins, you simply aren't listening hard enough.

That's because you've never seen the video for it, no?
It gave me a whole new perspective on the song. It's kind of cheesy-tacky, but I think that might be the point.

it's good but personally i can't stand music videos that are just a literal illustration of the lyrics.
