For me at least, it sparked an interest in finally reading the comics, which I hear get better and better as they go. Probably done with the show, tho

It seems like they were making a concerted effort to refer to us as "background" instead of "extras." I'm not sure if that's because they think it sounds better or what. But, for my money, extra sounds fancier and I prefer that term. Exxxx-traaaa!!! I was perhaps a bit too eager and excitedly volunteered when they asked if anyone was willing to do "some physical work." What I didn't realize is that they'd be doing 19 takes of the same scene over two days as it was an establishing shot to open the episode with the Gemstones and had a ton of moving parts. I left Charleston battered and bruised. My wife thinks I'm crazy but I guess that's what happens when us fancy Hollywood types marry outside of the biz.

The storyline I was working on was wild and seems hilarious. An assistant director I sort of buddied up to told me they anticipate the new season premiering in February.

Just finished the new "A League of their Own" series on Prime. It was better than I expected. Very very gay and queer. Lots of gay lady kissing. Rosey O'Donnel has a cameo in one episode. It is a bit awkward at times in transitioning the storylines between all the white women playing for the AAGPBL and Maxine, a black woman who wants to play ball, but isn't allowed to play almost anywhere.

Some of what happens in this first season made me go look up the history of the league and also of women of color in baseball. And i was surprised to learn that a number of black women played in the Negro Leagues and even owned teams.

It's worth a watch. But I doubt a lot of straight people over the age of 40 are going to bother with it past the first episode.

Hopefully it gets a second season. I think the league lasted 12 years so there's a lot of time for them to play with in the future.

note how in the final chorus he mutters "yeah man"

it is because, allegedly, he was highly excited at the time

that's what's up

i started reading the scions of shannara fantasy novels from the 90s and i learned accidentally that it, at one time recently, was turned into a show.

NO!

Like the greatest thing about books is that you can create this entire world in your head via the words of the author. A fucking lame (guns) TV show just shits on your entire imagination.

Was there ever a less convincing ladies' man?

the mulder into porno thing makes sense since david duchovney/anchovie (sic) was a known sex addict or whatever. guess they worked that in

i like californication. the writing was great for that show. my roommate and i checked out all the seasons from our local library

i like both of the shows and i'm sure there's some insane person on the internet that connected them as existing in the same universe. like the x-files gets shut down and so he starts writing books based on slayer album titles.

if you can find any evidence please direct it my way.

Thumbs up

That bonus episode of Sandman that dropped on Friday: That's more like it. Please have more stories where Morpheus is a bit player and isn't a total pretentious asshole when he does show up.

Gilian was in another high school in my town, and kind of hung around a bit in the same punk/goth crowd that I did. If you were a punk kid back then you kind of knew all the other kids like that at the other schools. Being a punk in the 80s meant being ostracized in your own school. She went to City HIgh, a publich high school for academically "gifted" students. But all it meant is you had to test into it. City had a disproportionate number of punks and alternateens. I remember her from back then. She came off as kind of stuck up and sometimes talked with with a fake english accent for some reason. That wasn't nearly as weird as half of the people in that town back then, so I didn't think much of her at the time. She really hated Grand Rapids. She's said in interviews that it sucked, and I agree with her completely.

Who watch Game of Thrones?

First episode was all set-up and character introduction. Immediatley tho it feels like a different show. It didn't jump around to multiple locations like the old show. Everything took place in and around Kings Landing. This show feels more like Shakepearean tragedy than the original GoT show, which tried to follow the crazy number of storylines and characters from the books. This focuses squarely on the ruling family. Maybe they'll dive deeper into some of the flanking characters.

He’s doing an English assignment for school comparing bojack, a clockwork orange, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and one flew over the cuckoo’s nest, showing connections between them that demonstrate his thesis statement “real change comes from within, and begins with acceptance”

High school English seems to be much better than when I did it

That’s funny that she was doing an pseudo English accent back then. She does a pretty good one now, I guess it all adds up

I was a big fan of David Duchovny when I was young. I think Agent Mulder was a kind of early teenage precursor to Mr Darcy

Me too. Well, Shakespeare. We read one per year, for five years.

Plus it was an all girls school so we read The Color Purple and The Kitchen God’s Wife.

She grew up in London for the most part before moving there, the accent isn't fake, innit.

it was weird. it came and went. sometimes she had it sometimes she didn't.

Maybe it was her just fucking around with her voice? But the impression was that she was stuck up. We were kids. Kids can be mean. Who knows...

of course everyone would have hated her for that. kids are jerks. actors are empty vessels.
