Yeah I was pretty shocked seeing that.
Billy seems like the type who would buy into all the post-DaVinci code hyped up BS about how Masons are part of a nefarious conspiracy to rule the world, and who would most definitely NOT want to associate with them. So it could either be a kind of "fuck you" to Freemasonry (by wearing a symbol which must be earned)...or he's really actually into it. BTW Freemasons do not encompass just rich, elite-blooded folks. I know some who happen to be black (and also white), and do professional skilled but working class occupations. It's just a social fraternal organization. It's not what is was 100 years ago in the deep south, with only WASP males of English/Scots background controlling county governments. |

It’s cool because of the history behind it, the founding fathers, the mysticism, the map behind the Declaration of Independence, Nick Cage, etc.
it’s stupid and cheesy because it’s a current group, mainly composed of old farty white men that meets once a month. He may as well have a rotary club patch on there. Unless he, or Linda strawberries, doesn’t understand or grasp that fact. A random patch of anything would have been better because now it looks like he’s commercial and in a legit group like the Kiwanis club or the nra or something cheesy. It’s lame and cringe. |
