Default Expanded deluxe hyper mega Zeitgeist - I need your help

Hey all, I'm working on a version of Zeitgeist that pulls together all the tracks associated with the main release, along with other associated tracks from the era like Gossamer, As Rome Burns, FOL, GLOW, If All Goes Wrong rehearsal tracks, American Gothic, etc. Essentially making a double/triple album version lol (as if we needed more Zeitgeist, I hear you say...)

Not just compiling them though, I'm also doing work on them to bring down and level the vocals etc so the vocals are more 'in the mix' rather than 'on top of the mix' and that kind of thing. (I know there are plenty of 'vocal down' versions of Zeitgeist, including a previous one of my own - this will be the best yet I reckon). Also doing general mixing and mastering work to make the tracks sound like they all belong together.

It's actually pretty cool bringing the more acoustic tracks into the mix as it adds a dynamic to the album that's not there when it's just the core album, ie. all rawk all the time.

For Gossamer I've mixed the IAGW DVD version with the 12-5-08 Ogden Theatre version because it has much better vocals for the main verse sections and an extra section not in the IAGW take.

What I need help with at the moment is:

- What is the best (soundboard) version of As Rome Burns, in your opinion? Particularly one with good sound quality and good vocals

- Does anyone have lossless (FLAC or otherwise) versions of GLOW, and Superchrist? From what I can see GLOW had a promo CD and Superchrist was on a CD compilation, so both SHOULD exist, I just can't find them

- Would anyone be interested in helping come up with track sequencing ideas? I don't want to have it just be the whole OG Zeitgeist tracklist + bonus tracks, but rather a new tracklist that incorporates and weaves the other tracks into it. Here are the list of songs I'm working with:

Quote:
Zeitgeist
That's The Way
Pox
Bleeding The Orchid
Doomsday Clock
For God And Country
Bring The Light
No Surrender
Starz
Tarantula
7 Shades of Black
FOL
Again Again Again (The Crux)
Neverlost
The Rose March
Stellar
Promise Me
Death From Above
Sunkissed
Peace + Love
Ma Belle
Come On Let's Go
United States
Pomp And Circumstances
99 Floors
G.L.O.W.
Superchrist
Gossamer (Live)
As Rome Burns (Live)
Also, if there are any tracks I'm missing that have soundboard or studio recordings that might be worth including, let me know. I have left out Mama intentionally.

With Zeitgeist being one of my favoright SP albums (I know blasphemy!) I have compiled a million different configurations of a double album version of the big Z. I would be willing to share my work, but what do you consider the beginning and ending of the era?

For me, Zeitgeist began in Nov 2005 and ended with Jimmy leaving in 2009 and the switch to Spirits in the Sky era.

TheFutureEmbrace > Zeitgeist > Spirits in the Sky with some mild overlap. Some examples would be TFE's live only stuff like the Bit songs being debuted during the mid 05 tour while BC and JC had already revived the Pumpkins in secret and had been writing/rehearsing by then.

As for Gossamer, listen to 05-22-07, 07-30-07 and 12-07-08.

I support you in your search for the best version of "As Rome Burns." I too wonder about this.

Good luck with the track sequencing, but I don't think there is any way to get this correct. The silver version is better than the earlier releases, but that is mostly because it adds better songs.

Consider the acoustic Daydream.

So you consider Bit and anything from '06 (is there anything?) ZG?

No, TFE tour ended Aug 05.

Again, Again, Again (The Crux) and Shangra-La were debuted and labeled as Smashing Pumpkins songs by Pete Townshend in 2006.

Question

Thankfully DJALI Zwan might be next in the timeline after Machina. Will it be an extra release?

Why has the soundtrack not been released with the movie?

The music from the Spun soundtrack was some of the best stuff Billy did post-2000. It's a travesty that it's never been officially released.

i always overlook it but i really love some of the songs... zwan had that machina esque swag sometimes in a way that never returned besides MAYBE 'with sympathy'

As for Gossamer, listen to 05-22-07, 07-30-07 and 12-07-08.
Definitely only beginning with Zeitgeist the album itself - for this I only want songs as recorded by / as performed by TSP! My cut off would be the same though, with the Spirits In The Sky era being what I would consider the beginning of the Teargarden era.

Thanks for the Gossamer suggestions - already have completed my version of that track however I will enjoy listening to these versions! Maybe if there's something different enough in one of them I will be tempted to go back to work on it to ******* it

I appreciate the list of tracks there. Are there any particular songs there that have studio or soundboard recordings (of the ones not in my initial list)?

edit: lol wtf the word i-n-c-l-u-d-e is censored. how very netphoria

Dear djizap:

Leave zeitgeist as it is....
A mostly shitty album stays a shitty one. But feel free to rerecord it with girly choirs, cowbells and stock synths....

When you see the list of songs this way, it's pretty impressive. And there were some really good songs recorded during this era.

The Zeitgeist era is certainly better appreciated in retrospect.

ZG is a contender for actual worst release from a major band ever

It’s funny, for an album named Zeitgeist, how badly out of step with the times BOlly was. Playing the heel??

So, you're saying that Zeitgeist is similarly bad to anything by Limp Bizkit, Guns n' Roses, Creed, Staind, Imagine Dragons, etc?

Come on, that's a bit hyperbolic.

I guess "disappointing" is a better way of saying it

it's the most disappointing album ever

the correct volume to mix the vocals to is zero

as in, no amount of these vocals are listenable

zeitgeist is interesting because its the first iteration of billy deliberately doing some shit that was blatantly shit on in the past by his fans

everyone hates the production on zwan but zeitgeist sounds literally exactly the same... blown out as fuck for no reason

the loud vocals are such a non issue compared to the fact that theres no audio fidelity
