Question Why would bumping his head make Busta Rhymes "switch it on 'em"?

I've never understood Busta's explanation of a childhood incident at the beginning of "Gimme Some More":

"Yeah, as a shorty, playing in the front yard of the crib
Fell down, and I bumped my head
Somebody helped me up and asked me if I bumped my head
I said, 'Yeah'
So then they said, 'Oh, so that mean we gon', you gon' switch it on 'em?'
I said' 'Yeah, Flipmode, Flipmode is the greatest'"

Why would this unnamed person thinking bumping his head would necessarily lead to this? Why did Busta think so as well? I've bumped my head a few times, and neither I nor my loved ones noticed any change in my subsequent behavior, attitude, actions or cognitive ability, I know you're thinking it, fuck you.

Flipmode is the greatest, I think we can all agree, but I just don't see how the head-bump had anything to do with it or anything else Busta may have done to switch it on 'em from that point onward.

sometimes I get the feeling like some of the situations discussed in rap songs are, perhaps, not 100% genuine

This is definitely a lot to think about

Just yesterday my lady partner reminded me of a 1996 John Travolta film called Phenomenon where a totally ordinary pasty white dude with a butthole in his chin (portrayed by John Travolta) becomes a supergenius after bumping his head

This is too intense to be a coincidence

I don't understand the lyrics to "pepper" by Butthole Surfers

"Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche comin' down the mountain"

ITS CALLED A WATERFALL GIBBY

not for nothing but childhood brain trauma is one of 3 indicators of a total psycho. so maybe he recognized the switch getting flipped. :

he said like an avalanche so he's just comparing the fountain to the avalanche--not calling water going down a mountain an avalanche. the fountain is moving like this

except it's made up of water, not snow, and water (unless something else is in the fountain ) is a metaphor for life. maybe he's saying life moves fast or some people chug on life--he was into drugs so maybe it's all about addictive personalities or just regular sober loving of life. so many ways to interpret the poetry of mr. peppermint's son.

maybe he likes to ski. what a great band. reminds me of riding in the car with my dad in the texas summers with no a/c.

My 3rd grade English teacher (Big ups, Mrs. Clem!) would be so proud.

they have a song from the 1996 romeo & juliet soundtrack that wasn't on any of their records.

a lot of bands made songs specifically for the movie---i don't know if that's so uncommon. but the song is dope

I just had to explain to someone today that the saying "not my first rodeo" has nothing to do with a real rodeo. This person has lived in the United States their entire life and is a native English speaker.

1 - it's not a fountain

2 - yes a waterfall is akin to an avalanche
