Modest Mouse - Tube Fruit...

really really into these. I remember when the guy bought them off ebay but they weren't leaked yet. glad to see they found their way out. if only the guy that bought "uncle bunny faces" would rip his copy.

but these are my favorite style of demos. no band. just a dude hollering into a 2-track with an acoustic guitar.

I've been listening to Rubber Soul by the Beatles at least once a day recently. Every time I get a Beatles song stuck in my head, it will usually be from this album. I am very fucking much warming to the album now. Same thing happened to me with Sgt. Peppers a few years ago. Next will probably be the white album.

Hmmm... Not sure if these albums sat well for me over the last 15 years or whatever. The lyrics of Secret Samadhi are still so incredibly terrible though, that didn't change.

I find the white album greatly benefits from a nice Itunes edited playlist and mix in Hey Jude/Revolution single from that same time period.

also it's better to put like tracks together.. Drug disc and traditional disc.

Drug Disc

Revolution (Single)
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Wild Honey Pie
USSR
Ob La Di Ob La Da
Glass Onion
I'm So Tired
Yer Blues
Mother Nature's Son
Piggies
Everyone got's something to hide..
Helter Skelter
Long Long Long
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Savoy Truffle
Good Night

Traditional

Dear Prudence
Rocky Raccoon
Blackbird
Julia
Don't Pass Me By
I Will
Birthday
Martha My Dear
Sexy Sadie
Honey Pie
Cry Baby Cry
Revolution 1
Hey Jude

But that line "I saw your tongue / It licked my heart / They called you queer" is nice, you gotta admit

Yeah, I will admit that there's some good lines on that record, but for every cool line, there's like three just totally embarrassing lines, you know?

Let's go hang out in a mall, or a morgue / a smorgasbord
Let's go hang out in a church / we'll go find Lurch
Then we'll haul ass down through the abbey

This puke stinks like beer

Angel, don't you have some bagels in my oven?

Always gravitate towards disc one - I always forget how solid disc two is. Stood in the cold while my gas pumped with Footsteps through the rolled down window... that song is powerful.

I was considering just removing all of the shit songs. Or all of Paul's songs. I listened to the whole thing today and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Also listened to this today:

Freakin' kool shit. I want to look into being a jazz snob if/when I'm sick of being a shoegaze snob.
