for sure. those hammer ons and slides.. ach, mein gott!!!

i also wanted to mention the end of bridge in tear. there's a fake buildup and then another buildup, and then these two UBERSENESCENT chords--and back to the main riff. amazing stuff.

Saw the thread title and came to comment the Cupid de Locke chords. Every single one of them. You can hear that first chord in tons of other non-SP songs, I have always thought of it as the 'cupid chord' as short hand whenever I hear it.

The first chord in Porcelina is also in the Hummer coda. Its usually the first chord I play when I pick up a new guitar, classic pumpkins.

Dark horse candidate would be the Everlasting Gaze chorus, which sounds like shit when anyone ever covers it... but with the synth wash on the studio version, and live last summer - its one of those ones that escapes me, I can't play it and make it sound right. It is washed out, but the harmonics are amazing with the synth underneath.

Its not a pretty chord necessarily, but the whole part of Bury Me from 3.09 onwards where the guitar first solos in a minor key and then at 3.26 unexpectedly changes to major. That whole part is amazing.

It's also like in Suffer, "all that you suffer is all that you A-RE", where it shifts up to a major key.

always thought the turn around with the octaves and then this back into the main riff was sweet:

-0--0--0------0----
-3--3--3------2----
-2--1--2------1----
-0--0--0------2----
---------------0----

yeah it's a really clever riff. then there's that unexpected pre-chorus after the second verse.

i don't know if these count as chords, but the finger picked stuff in ruby is some of the best sounding guitar work of tsp.

Yeah

i don’t know if these counts as chords but ive always thought Jimmys finger lickin’ on cherub rock are one of the best sounding melodies in all of rock, for sure

Plus Jeff the Shredar Iha’s solo on the bridge are almost as good as the second-to-last prechorus on cherub rock, imo

That part in Cupid that you wrote about, and that progression in Luna during the "I'll sing for you..." part.

-6----4----2----2----
-7----5----4----0----
-0----0----0---------

Any of the multiple varieties of G chords in Soma. Billy playing in higher register, James in lower, both involving open strings.

Same goes for the end of hummer, the Gadd9(no3), same chord that opens rocket.

The D A C G verses in poercelina also has similar guitar work and VERY PRETTY.
