I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS about the movie Butterfly Effect
First off, how does Ashton know he can "disappear" into his journals in each scenario? If he's living the good life in one, he would have no need to have ever used them.
Second, when he disappears, what happens to him back in the old scenario he just escaped? Third, in each scenario, which things happen to which character? Like, in the scenario where he stops the pedophile, does the rest of the stuff happen (dog abuse, firecracker, etc.)? Yeah, I'm making a thread eight years too late. I've seen it like twice before and now I have questions. IDGAF. |

It has been years since I've seen this. I didn't really like it back then, so maybe I'll have to watch it again soon.
I don't think he ever understood how he could travel in time and manipulate past events. He was just able to do it within his consciousness. The journal seems to help him connect with the memories, and from there he is able to slip into a vision. Kind of like Somewhere in Time, where Christopher Reeve uses the tape recorder to listen to the sound of his voice, as he tries to manipulate time with his mind. The journal is kind of the same thing. I think the moment he burned himself w/ his cig, he realized his ability to manipulate the time stream. |
