No. It’s a great song. What they should have done was held back TEITBITE and Eye, kept Matt Walker, and gone forward with the cyber-metal album. Ava Adore would’ve fit in well with that. Daphne too.

Ava Adore follows the thread started by Eye and TEITBITE. And if Billy hadn't been all about "this album is a new sound etc" it would've been seen as a natural progression for SP, and very much in keeping with the music of that time. Even Lenny Kravitz "went electronic" on his album from that year.

The more I think back, the more I see 1998 as a great year for music - albums like Mezzazine, Deserter's Songs, Ray Of Light, Moon Safari, Psyence Fiction, Yield, and yes, Adore all stand up today.

More than any critique about the quality of ava adore as a song, whether I like it or not, I just think it (along with Perfect as well) are astoundingly out of step with the rest of the album. Like a titanium transplant.

I mean I get that it was done to try and "generate excitement" among the average BWBW fans, we all know how into engineering crowd response Billy is, but it just murders the vibe and the record only really recovers in its final third.

Yeah what Adore needed was less catchy, uptempo tracks. It should’ve been longer and drearier.
